Auction's feeding frenzy

I just don't understand some bidders not only on GB but eBay as well. I'm seen many cases where bidders will drive a price higher than a BIN price on an exact same item.

Don't these bidders ever shop before getting into a bidding war?

Stupid!

I have often watched a number of auctions for the same model gun in similar condition looking to buy one. I have watched several bidding wars, prices far above the researched average range, often well above what a local shop would retail it for, and then been the only bidder on one below the average price.

My only conclusion is that some folks don't know what to bid on, so they only bid on items that have bidders already. Feeding frenzies can then result.

    It is entertaining.

People get competitive and possessive at the same time. For some it's an addiction to winning. Then again, some are just plain ignorant, making foolish errors.

I research the value, consider what I can afford and make my maximum bid. That's it. [8D]

Been a while since I won auctions on GB. I still try [:D]

The 15 minute rules encourages bidding wars, I prefer sniping fleabay, its much more fun!![:D][8D]

Said it before and I'll said it again ...

15 minute rule is great for sellers. It's helped me in what little selling I have done.

15 minute rule blows a foul and odorous wind for buyers. It's hurt me on auctions where ebay sniping is reflexively tried over and over again.

people put a gun they want on their watch list and then they watch THAT gun. Its a good idea to search out when watching an item to see if a new one shows up for sale.

One thing I have done as a buyer is when I see a bidding war get going on something I really want, I do a search right then and there for more auctions of the same thing. It has been a great reality check and has saved me money.

Let the feverish bid snipers go whackadoodle in the last 30 seconds of every 15 minute bid reset. There'll be another of that make and model come along soon enough, if not already waiting on my Watch List!

Bidding whilst inebriated makes many a seller smile.

Did a fixed price buy on some IMR 4895 for 26.00 and some change, while on the auction side it was up to 39.00. Makes no sense to me.

Personally I'll spend some time "shopping" before buying or getting into an auction.

I keep looking until I find what I want, at my price. It is usually here on GB. You have to do the research. Most people get caught up in the bidding, almost like being at the casinos. They just have to win at any cost. I see it at the auctions I go to and on fleebay and here on GB. I just find another when no one is watching and do a lot of sniping. I usually watch for an item that is ending when most are at work or late at night or early in the morning. Scored some nice guns at great prices like that.I don't do the war bidding.
