i am thinking about building a suppressed ar 15 and talking to gun shop it sounds like a trust is a better way to go.. esp since we have a gentleman sheriff here to go to get finger printed and etc . id just as soon not go that route what are your guys experience and etc with doing a trust instead
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Just got my paperwork back in less than 24 hours for the trust. Used a site called 199 Trust, special going on right now for 99. bucks.

Is a trust still worth doing? I seem to remember a change that now requires that every individual having access must go through the ATF approval process.

The point of a trust is supposed to be multigenerational durability. Read the literature on a trust package you're thinking of using carefully. Do a google search about the horror stories of some of these quickie online gun trusts. While I can't lecture intelligently on the legal minutia, I know that the wording needs to be done right or it won't be durable. It will still get you past the cleo sign off, but will evaporate upon your death, which isnt what you want.

So wjats the pros of doing this vs just buying a nfa item and paying the tax?

For me I would only be doing 1-3 suppressors and a SBR or AOW. Would it be worth it?

i live in il and nfa items are a no no, i can have a trust 15 minutes away in missouri and purchase nfa items as long as i have a legal address to park them securely

It eliminates the requirement to have a CLEO sign off, and fingerprints which aren't a problem to get.
And as KEV pointed out the intent is that it is a perpetual transfer to the other trustees/beneficeraries (SP)
