Anyone like sweet potato pie?
Last year at the tail end of the holidays, I went to a party and picked up one of the Patti LaBelle sweet potato pies for the hostess.

I didn't know what it tasted like, but had a piece at the party.
It was killer! Pleasant taste, light filling, with a crust that wouldn't fall apart if you walked around holding it in a napkin.

Come ahead to today. Shopping, I saw them in the store and picked one up. I just finished tearing up half of it.
For a store bought pie, fresh, not frozen, at under four bucks, it's perfect for a picnic, just don't forget the whipped cream like I did.

If you don't remember Patti LaBelle, here she is making marmalade.

    All my life, sweet 'tater pie was a staple at my house. Pumpkin hardly ever. But my favorite is Butternut squash. I make them, especially this time of year. I bake and puree some Butternuts and freeze them in containers equal to one pie. So all I have to do is thaw, and finish the pie. We'll be having some next week, along with Pecan, chocolate, and my famous Christmas Nut pie. [:D]

    Going into this post, I thought it might have been of a sexual nature![:0]

    Jessica Rabbit was the first cartoon babe to get my blood pressure up![:p]

    I still have great memories of the taste and flavor of my grandmother's pumpkin pies! She would bake them until there were black spots on their surface and those little golden drops of moisture like you see on a good lemon merengue pie.

    Lemon merengue was another of her specialties and her rice pudding was killer!

    Sure do miss her!

    She got her Sweet Tater Pie recipe from her hair dresser Norma Gordon Harris. Patti shared the recipe many years ago and you should be able to find it on the web.

    ===========

    I have been eating sweet potato pie for as long as I can remember. So far in my life I bet I have not ate a piece of pumpkin pie over 20 times.
