That stuff is expensive! $85 for 500 .22lr...Wait, I now see the name Lapua... For $85 you better be able to put 10 rounds in one hole at 100 yards with a rusty cricket.

I will only shoot this stuff in my moms old match rifle. The only .22 that I have worthy of the ammo.

So, can you explain to me why this ammo is so expensive? I'm having a bit of a problem comprehending $85 for a brick of .22, let alone $230 for a brick. Is it hand made on CNC machines with the bullet weights all being within .00001 grain of each other?

That's all I use these days for reloading (brass wise) the cost Vs. prep time over other brass is worth every penny and the brass does last longer.

That's CHEAP !!! let me "spain it to you this way.... A million years ago, I was very serious into 50ft. NRA 4 position smallbore {.22} target shooting. My choice of gun was an
Anshutz Model 1413. It had a 20x Unertal scope on it with a 2" front lens..20 power to shoot 50 feet. The bulleyes of the target was 1/8". If you couldn't "X" out that bullseye
    38 out of 40 shots......you went home a loser.
If you missed, you wanted to know it WAS NOT because of the ammo.

That's what my mom shot in back in the 1940's. The rifle I have of her's is a Stevens model 44 HB W/ a lyman front globe site. Rear peep. She won enough match's to become an NRA rifle team instructor.

I love Lapua - but I only have the SK STANDARD and SK RIFLE MATCH.

It ranges beyond the ELEY CLUb and ELEY SCORPION.

    At least in my Ansch?tz 1451G =o)

But Lapua (SK) and Eley is good stuff.

Uh, if I have to kill a rabbit or other critter I don't want to use a cartridge worth more than what I'm shooting at.

I just got 2625 rounds of Remington copper plated hollow points for $90 in a GB auction. Just a little cheaper than a local price, but hey I thought I was low in my supply.

Neatening up, I realized I'd missed a bunch of old .22 ammo boxes. Found a pile of Blazers, Mini-Mags, Federal Lightning, Yellow Jackets, Stingers, CCI Shot Shells. Between my latest purchase and what went unnoticed in the ammo locker I must be up to 4000 rounds at least.

Soooo.... will have to do a bunch of shooting before I need to buy any Lapua Gold Plated Angel Kissed Wizard Guided Wonder Bullets.

Just like an automobile if you want to drive to the drug store most any car will do . and you don't normally have to be a great driver. BUT if you want to go F1 racing you you need the best equipment and be at least in the top 1% of all race car drivers. . Most shooters are never good enough to out preform a match grade fire-arm with middle cost match grade ammo. I did one time in my life . I made the Mayleigh Cup team one time at Camp Perry with a low cost Eley Practice ammo and a High standard pistol with sleeved barrel That I had $150.00 in . However I had tested this combination of gun and ammo in ransom rest. I walked away from making the team "top 10 Shooters 50 yards offhand" out of 1152 shooters . Bought me a case of top dollar ammo and a new $2000.00 Hammerli 208S . never made the team again. [:(]
you have to match your skill level with ammo quality and firearm quality. Testing of equipment is the Key. remember there are 3links in the CHAIN to making that bullet hit the exact spot you want it to. 99% of the time the weak link is the shooter.

""That's what my mom shot in back in the 1940's. The rifle I have of her's is a Stevens model 44 HB W/ a lyman front globe site. Rear peep.""

I started with a remington 513 target with the same lyman globe and micro-peep rear.
Funny thing is, I was better with the 1413 and the Anshutz "iron" sites that the gun had before I put the 20x scope on it. Looking back now, I know it was because the scope went on when I turned 18 years old. I also "learned" about girls about that time.[;)]. So the daily shooting at the range "Petered out". And to think about it now.........Girls and women
have messed up EVERYTHING in my life !![:0][:D][;)]

My Mom, now 85, when I tell her target gun still shoots SUB MOA at 50 yards. She gets a big grin. I lover her so much for my up bringing.

I will stick with my local gun shop.

They sale a dry box containing 2100 rounds of Federal 36-gr. Copper plated, hollow-points for just $65.00. Best deal I have found for good .22 plinking ammo.

Yes it comes with a very decent dry box. Cabelas has the same deal for $69.00 and claims the box alone is worth $15.00.

It is listed as Item # IK-216951 if you wish to check into it. Even at Cabelas price it comes out to a little over $3.00 for each 100 rounds.

I gave you the item number. For I did not want to put up a mile long link.
