Ford 1110 from mid 1980s. 2WD, 2-cylinder diesel, about 17 hp. it is a pretty small tractor.

Comes with 48" Ford-branded finish mower.

One-owner, factory operator manuals come with it.

Appears to be in average to above average condition for a unit this old.

Asking $3,800. Seemed a little high to me.

Will older diesel tractor engines run OK with the currently-available Low-sulphur diesel road use fuel, or would I have to hunt up off-road diesel?

They should be fine. Off road diesel will be cheaper though. [:D]

I was looking at fastline for comparison price. No 1110 models listed, but there are two 1100 models and one 1200 model, year/prices 1968/$2,195, 1979/$4,000, no year/$4,995.

So price is probably about right, depending on hours.

I was under the impression clear and red diesel are no different.

Red is just untaxed. The old diesels I've run, do fine on either.

If the died diesel is what you meant by off road. Otherwise, I dont know.

There are some 1210's listed, which is probably closer to the 1110 then those other two. They range in price from 4500-9500.

in 1982 to 1985 they were about 6000.00 new, i think 3800.00 is a little high for a 20 year old tractor...if you buy it never let it get hot or them heads will crack..trust me[V]

Off-road diesel has more sulphur content than the now "ultra-low" that has been in hiway use since '05-'06.

I try to run the off road fuel as much as possible but I don't sweat it if all I can find is ultra low. Might run a little Marvel Oil or Essentialube through once in a while.

If I am not mistaking the 1110 has a 12hp engine.

$3800 is a little high for one. Offer $3000 for it and the mower and most likely you will take it home.

Most old full sized 8-9N, 6000 Ford's, TE/0 20 and 30's Ferguson's, 135 Massey's etc all are averaging around $3500 for just the tractor right now.

I let an International Harvester 4x4 about the same size as the 1110 slip through my hands. The guy was asking $3500 for the tractor, 5' Brush Hog, 4' Roto Tiller and a single 12" turn plow (mold board).

Off road diesel, reefer fuel, red dyed fuel (whatever you would like to call it) IS different than regualr deisel fuel. Cost difference, and power output difference.

Off road diesel will give your tractor more power, as your engine was ment to run it. If you use green fuel, put in some additives.

finding an older NICE tractor that has been taken care of is worth a premium or just go pay new price & be happy..i don't mean one that has had a coat of paint as an overhaul

Ooooh, can I sell you some tractors !

Just look around. 8-9N's TE/O 20-30's etc run an average of $3500 for one that is in good shape. I can find them all day long for less. But would have to do a lot of work to them in order to have a decent dependable machine.
