Sad accident today

My family and I were outside playing ball today when we heard a woman screaming.
At first we thought it was someone goofing off.
After a second or two we figured out it was real screams for help.
We ran four houses down to where the screaming was coming from.
IM thinking a woman is being beat until I get there and see what has happened.
A young boy about 8 years old is laid out.
He had large amounts of swelling on the right side of his head and on the left front. He also had blood coming from his nose. The mother said a tree limb fell and hit him in the head.
All I could do was put my jacket over him and try to keep him warp till the ambulance showed up.
The kid had huge amounts of swelling. I hope he makes it.

Hope he is gonna be all right. Loggers call those "Widow Makers".
I thought a 'widow maker' was a felled tree that has gotten hung up in another tree on the way down which has to be cut again to get down.

Lost a good friend to a fallen tree last year. Cutting trees. Saw got hung up in three. Headed back to truck and never saw the tree come down till it was too late.
He was in ruff condition.
IM still at work, should have some info in two hours.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
He is still out, docs letting him sleep she said.
They had to fly him to Birmingham, 90 miles away.
I guess he is at UAB.

Often the doctors will induce a coma in severe head injuries. The reduced brain activity helps healing and the patient generally has no memory from moments before the hurt until waking up.
Thanks for the update; prayers continue for the kid and his family!
+10 Same here... Continuing from NC.
The docs have a drainage tube running from his head. He was incubated, there is now fluid on his lungs so he may have to go back on incubation. She said he can talk and cant move the left side of his body.
This kid has a long road ahead of him.
We saw this boy at the playground across the street from my house a few hours before this happened. We remember seeing him cause he waved at us as we went by. It was out of the blue, something that dont happen too much in this area.
You never see it coming down the pike, it just blind-sides you on an ordinary day.
Best to the little mite and his family. Thank you for the update.

Any improvement on the lad?
I pray there's been an improvement of SOME amount...
