What's the best way to clean and polish a firearm with a satin nickel finish?

Not getting much of a response from a bunch of self-proclaimed "gun guys" [:D]

NS, you need to keep a tube around.. I've used Flitz for many years, for many polishing needs.. It even cleans the powder burns/build-up from the ends of a cylinder.. Use a soft cloth, or a soft toothbrush.. Doesn't take much..

Hangfire has it, as a second you can use a non-abrasive polish made for nickle and stainless steel bought at your local hardware store. Just be sure that it is a light polishing compound. And oil of course.

I have been told of some using car polish, I am not kidding here but I never have and personally do not know anyone that has themselves used it.

also, Hoppe's and nickel do not mix.

do not allow Hoppes to get on or remain on the nickel finish when cleaning the barrel and chamber/cylinder.

...FLITZ polish in a tube is good stuff.

Non abrasive (so deoesnt remove any scratches) and one of the best rust inhibitors Ive found...works on wood & ALL gun finishes...[;)]

Why would Hoppes & nickel finish not mix?

SATIN finish is easy to damage polish will do just that GLOSS not SATIN you do one area and it will NOT match the rest. [V]

    Perry shooter

Perry is right, missed the "satin-nickel" part...just rubbing satin-nickel w/o anything on the rag can change the finish color some...be careful and do a test area to be sure.

FLITZ is great on all finishes, wont harm Blue finishes.

Ive used it on 100+ year old blue finishes to NIB 2011 finishes and never a problem, completely non abrasive...[;)]

Because Hoppe's solvent will dissolve the copper undercoating and the nickel will flake off.
