Is there any problem to storing ammo in a non-climate controlled attic? The temp probably hits 120 in the summer.

Storing ammo in a safe is a BAD idea [:(]
Find yourself some old school lockers.

I bought a tool box & roller cabinate at sams club. Has deep drawers in the bottom to hold lots of shot shells & the upper drawers are big enough to hold lots of different handgun & rifle ammo. The whole thing can be locked to keep little fingers out.

Why is a safe a bad idea??

I have enough left unlocked to make sure that I can get to the lock up stuff

    Cabela's "Dry Boxes".
Second this one. The 'dry boxes' stack well, have a good carry handle, and can be placed directly on the floor without concern of rusting, condensation, etc. I put a $ 5.00 'rechargeable' desiccant pack in the box and check its condition every six months or so.

mostly because in a fire..ammo cooks off at a lower temp than the contents would burn at..ie;..ruining your guns inside..even though they were not burnt up from a fire..surplus ammo cans..that's what they were intended for..look for 120mm..or 50 cal..good water tight and almost indestructable.and I have been told a 120mm can will hold 2000rds of .223.[:D].let alone cheap..Loko [8D]

I use 30 and 50 caliber military ammo cans to store my ammo and have for years. At least I would if I actually had any ammo stored up! Which I don't. Nope, none at all. [;)]

After recently loosing a few thousand rounds to a sewage backup, I'd suggest a drybox.

Well, all else fails, depending on how much ammo- find a local shop that carries USED office furniture. The older stuff that was actually well made. Filing cabinets- kind with the ball bearing rollers on drawers. Lockable. I paid about $20 each for mine. Bottom drawer gets all the muzzle loader bullets and reloading bulelts (stability). Lets see, this drawer is 22 short, this one LR, this is the 9mm Parabellum, 9mm Mak, etc. If on a lower level, raise it an inch or two on dunnage (2x4 works)

I seal a meal mine and then put it in high quality (air tight) ammo boxes and put it in the storage shed.

I have always found the best storage place is in the intended target, no waste, no mis-fires, no corrosion. :)
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I use ammo cans. I barely have enough room for guns in the safes let alone ammo.

Here is what the START of a good ammo pile should look like [:D][:D][:D]

I use military ammo cans and crates, the cans are sealed and used for more long term storage, the military wooden crates are used mostly for stuff I cycle thru real fast.
