Poylgonal Rifling:


I've heard different answeres from many people that seem to have a say so on the effect of leading on polygonal barrels. Some say it reduces it while some say it make it build up more.


So I guess my question is does polygonal rifiling reduce lead build up or not?

No, as a matter of fact it smears lead to the point where shooting it could cause an over pressure KABOOM. There is nothing for a lead bullet to grab with Polygonal bores, they skid down the barrel giving crappy accuracy at best. A jacketed bullet deforms to fill the bore forcing it to spin.

Do not shoot lead in a Glock.

it is better than std rifling with JACKETED bullets
lasts longer, but unjacketed bullets fill up the corners until dangerous pressures occur

Haven't had any leading or accuracy problems with my CZ82. I clean it everytime it's shot, use hard lead bullets I cast and keep the speed down to about 950 fps. The accuracy is fine for a carry gun with Silver Bear HPs.
