Stock refinish question...

If I want to paint the forend black do I do it now before the Truoil or can it be done after???

Also the barrel and tube mag was completely polished and reblued.

Well since I don't know how to make the pics small enough to post heres a link to the pics.

I agree, painting over oil may cause the paint to peel. WHY would you want to paint it anyway?

The original finish was about a 2" of black at the tip of the stock.

I'm trying to keep it close to original.

Just wondering if I should paint that part first or if I can wait????

Not too clear on the project, but definitely paint before any oil is applied. After paint cures you should be able to oil the crap out of it with no problem. If you oil frst, your paint will not bond, or cure properly. Got pics? Love to see what you are talking about...

I wasn't sure because if its oil based paint I didn't know if it would matter.

i have heard you can add color to boiled lend seed oil that might be better then paint, I'm not sure if i like boiled lend seed oil yet takes a few hours to cure up, but im still playing around with it, it does cost a lot less then true oil
