Another awful gun show.

Second in a row. Maybe 1.3 of tables unsold and many that were sold were selling home improvement items, like shower remodeling and windows. The Shamwow guy was there doing a demo. Little in the way of guns and ammo. Oh, there was (now that I'm no longer looking) a NIB Colt SAA at a decent price. Oh well. There was also lots of 22 ammo at double retail. Any more I just screw with these guys.
Me: How much for this 333 box of Winchesters?
Gouger scum: $30.
Me: $30? (Speaking loudly enough to be heard three rows over.) But two days ago I bought one of these at Walmart for $15. Why is it twice as much here?
Gouger scum: Blank stare.
Me: I mean, you're asking double retail price. How come? (Everyone within 50 feet now looking at "dealer.")
Gouger scum: Nervous fidgeting. Can't even claim it's free enterprise.
Me: Well, thanks anyway. I don't want to pay that much. Good luck with that.

We plan to leave AR and move back to TX this year. The DFW area has some great shows.
Only problem with out of state shows is if I want to buy a gun I have to ask the dealer to ship it and it costs me shipping and transfer.

IMO and from recent experience they are not worth it to drive 1 1/2 hours to attend. Local flea markets, internet, gun shops and yard sells are much better.
Yep. Went to a yard/estate sale yesterday. Found the family had scarfed up all the guns, but they didn't want the 4 bricks of .22 ammo. Two Federal, one American Eagle, one the Always Dreaded and Obviously Completely Useless Thunderbolts.
All for $20. [;)][:D][:D][:D]

I'm moving to Omaha this summer and I hope the gun shows are good there. They have been EXCELLENT here in Fredericksburg. The Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly I have had especially good luck at these past three years!

Don't hold your breath.
Wife casually mentioned she'd like to take a trip to Dallas so maybe I'll time it for a gun show. Went to one at some venue called Market Something a few years ago and was struck by how many nickel plated revolvers I saw.

You are probably talking about Market Hall. I have relatives in the area to include a daughter and son in law to help for an out of state purchase if needed.
Of course there were plenty of private collections being sold. I can spend almost a full day at that show as it is huge. Many good deals can be found there, plus powders I can't find here.
Sort of regret leaving AR, but I paid enough in income tax alone to buy 4 Colt SAAs similar to yours.
You need to come to Carson, out here in God's country. The Cascade Sportsman's Club show in Carson doesn't have empty tables. Shamwows are against the law in Carson, ain't no one selling jerky and the coffee is free.
I'm thinking you need to move out west, get away from all the stress and strain you deal with where your at. There are other benefits, I just bought 600 rounds of CCI Mini Mags, 40gr solid points for $50.
Clean living Doc, it's clean living out west here that keeps us serene and well stocked on 22 ammo.[;)]

But the gun laws are better than most places. So it has that still going for it. May get better still, we've a new Governor who's outlook on gun rights legislation will soon be tested. Several new laws easing up on the silly nonsense we deal with are moving through the State legislature.
But today it was a Post Falls, Idaho gun show that had nothing for me. I brought home 4 five-round clips of 8mm Mauser ammo (Turkish, dated 1941), but that was it.
There were a great number of knives, some garments, frilly purses for the ladies, books, lots of coins, oh, and some guns that didn't interest me. Well, ONE was interesting; a Lahti L-39 20mm anti tank rifle like this one:
Sadly, it wasn't for sale. [V]
Your in luck, our next show is next Saturday, April 4th. Come on down.
