What are they going to use to transport people and equipment to the space station after they ground the shuttles?

The job will go to the French Space program and the Russians.
Their is some speculation that "private sector" companies will launch from Cali.Possibly Canaveral as well.

In the current situation our nation is in, the LAST thing we need to do, is to continue to put shuttles into orbit.

It's nothing but an expensive hobby for NASA. [:(!]

yep. NASA is all about searching for ET anymore. Sad state.

You guys are unbelievable. You actually think NASA hasn't tested a new spacecraft. Contracts were given out and it is scheduled for 2014 to fly.

Forgot all about it. Not that I haven't seen my share including working out there on 3 shuttle launches back in 1994.

With so few left I would have walked outside for a minute and watched but alas, I forgot.

It is sad to see the German, errr I mean American space program go to others including the Russians, Japs and Chinese but as pointed out we should not spend money on such things as we are hell bent on being a has been country that no longer leads and innovates.

let those other countries that want to improve their technology and advance their nation do that stuff.

    Mediocrity here we come!!!

Beautiful to see but I'll be glad when they are all retired. Those contraptions always worried me.

We got a lot of technology out of the Space Program. Many spin-off industries and jobs in the private sector, it was a good investment.

We could have continued to do so, but not by sticking with low orbits. Had we continued pushing the envelope towards manned Moon and Mars missions, we'd of been a lot better off.

Oh well, hope this trip goes smoothly and all return safe and sound.
