Handicapped Parking

One thing that really gets Me is healthy People that take the spaces for the Disabled.
I was in a Coffee Shop and there was a Truck that belonged to the Shopping Center Security Company in the Spot I use,I told the Driver that it was only for the Disabled and the Guy had the nerve to tell Me that He ran around a lot more than I did, I said I wish I could run but I am Disabled and cannot.
What a first class jerk.
I called His Company and reported Him and what He said so maybe He will be more considerate if He still has a Job.

He was having none of the argument and told me I should leave the regular spaces for those who don't have placards.
I only say this to point out, when it comes to parking spaces, someone is always ticked that someone else has parked where they want to park.
I never park in a handicap spot unless Sandy is with me, and I agree with you, I hate folks who abuse someone else's handicap permit, but they do around here all of the time.
Had a LEO in Scranton tell me to move or be ticketed without a placard when I pulled into a handi-capped spot. I told him I did not need a placard and went on my way into the store with my walker. He walked around my truck with an opened pad to get my plates then snapped it shut when he saw the tags.
Would guess that at least 50% of those with cards don't really need them. Also those 400 pounders riding the electric carts in wally world really upset me. They are always earing or drinking as they shop.
Good laugh twice in the past month. One a NEW corvette in handicapped parking another was a NEW porsche. Both with handicapp stickers hanging from the mirror. How does a handicapped person get into and out of one of those type cars?
But when my back went out I really thought about it.
My biggest problem is when I feel good we go to the store and by the time we are done I can hardly make it to the door, so often I stand and wait for the truck to come get me. My get up and got got up and left many years ago.
When I need my wheelchair I stay at home, just to much hassle to get in and out of our truck.
I hate the teenagers that look to be in grammas car, they park in the handicap space then run for the door because they are in a hury.
He is a tall man and I would guess 350-375lbs. Watching him get out of a cruiser is something.
Last summer wife and I went to the store, saw him parked in front so he could see the handicap spaces. We pulled into one and just sat while wife was going over her list. I saw him watching us. He got a mad look on his face and started to climb out of his car, when he got about half way out I hung the tag on the mirror. I think if he could have he would have shot me. [:)]
We have a local officer that does handicap parking tickets. I am not sure but that may be all he does.

That's a good one Dave... [:D]
Most of the time no one enforces the law and it makes it bad for the legal holders to park.[V][xx(]
But, I know a couple of able-bodied folks who consider themselves "religious" & use the handicap placards issued to family members who are not with them, or who are no longer living. How can someone who believes in a higher power rationalize that this is acceptable behavior?

It's not always possible to find a space these days due to all the people that don't seem to need them taking all the spaces.
Go to Home Depot, there are probably 15 spaces. Still a long way to walk. But always a bunch open. Seems funny to me that so many are at a store where you don't expect a lot of handicapped people to be shopping.
Other places there are only 3 or 4. There doesn't seem to be much planning about where to put them. Just jam in a few to meet requirements. Sometimes a regular space is better than the marked ones. Huge malls have 2-3 in various spots among thousands of spaces. Usually not the shortest walks either.
Lately I have not gone where I would like to because of this.
Then you go to a doctor's office & there are few if any.
My doc asked if I wanted to get one because of my back. I said no thanks, I'm not that bad off yet.
My 71 year old mother that has had a colon resection, cardiac bypass, and is full of osteoarthritis refuses to use one.
I have asked her to get one, but she won't.
I know this will tick off a lot of folks here, but I am speaking of what I see in this area only.
50% seem to be nothing but 'fat loads' that can't walk very far due to their weight. They manage to get into that restaurant door just fine though.
Another segment jumps out of their vehicles, and can beat me to the door, as I am passing their car.
It's like everything else nowadays,.....massive abuse of a good idea by lazy slugs.[xx(]
And if you can squeeze your fat * into that Miata, you really arent that disabled.... Just saying...
I got cussed out by a man that said I was taking up regular folks parking spaces because I had a handicap placard and was parked in a regular space. I tried to explain to him that the placard was for my disabled wife and she wasn't with me so by law, I couldn't use a handicap parking spot.

Had a fat pig at work driving her mothers car and thought she could use one of the handicapped spaces at work. We have 12 spaces and they are always full. Well one day she came out to her car and found 2 parking tickets on it totaling $480 in fines.
As far as that goes, though, I rarely even take the closest open spot that I can find. I figure if I'm going to walk half a mile up and down the aisles of a grocery store, another 50 yds isn't going to hurt.
Plus, I'm too impatient. I can park in an empty spot and walk all the way to the door by the time someone can drive up and down the parking lot looking for a closer spot.
I have several "Handicapped" placards, and I use them all the time.Yes,they are abused, and I know it. But I pay taxes, and I need it some days (COPD)....other physical abilities cause the use also... Lots of folks have them just for the parking privilege...I would be most happy to have good health and not need any signs..[:o)]
Amen to that
