Woodworker Help: Hidden hanger Q

I need to hang a 2 piece log wall mantel.
One log flattened with a gnarled bottom log.
I do not want to drill thru. I want a backside bracket shaped like a pear to hang over a hex-stud. I could install flush or use a router to inset it.
What do I ask for, and is a hardware store likely to carry? The weight is maybe 45 pounds.

Otherwise would a slanted mounting bracket work. It's like 1/2 a dovetail with the slope running back toward the wall. That way gravity pulls the visible piece tight to the wall.

I usually use those on cabinets. Easiest way for one person to hang cabinets and get them level and all lined up
