Need help with fifties song

While visiting my wife at the Nursing Home yesterday, I told her I had come across a nineteen fifties song YOU YOU YOU and we agreed it brought back a lot of memories. We were banging around some other titles and songs from the era

We got stuck on a song with the words (I love you for a hundred thousand reasons) and the name of the artist.

Need some help does anyone recall the title and the singer?

Young guys will be stuck on this one, doesn't have a bunch of wild people beating hell out of their guitar and yelling words like a raped ape.

Thanks---I was not aware of Presley singing it. I recall a different artist, he possibly introduced the song originally and Presley picked on it with his version---only guessing

Yeah, Elvis did that with quite a few songs.

I went back to youtube and found a Jim Reeves version:

Mr. Orange---Now that I have the title I did a little more searching. Found a recording on You Tube by Al Martino, it is a little rough couldn't get it to play steady only a lot of skips. I do recall Reeves singing it, but the voice I was most familiar with is Martino http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_I_ID7CDMnw

My wife of fifty one years has been in Nursing Home for a year this month. (72 years old) She comprehends most things. Went through a lot together, really amazing how a few old songs can bring back so many memories, we both get sweaty eyes when the memories kick in.

Not to sell the raped ape songs short, I'm sure when people arrive at the years we have that the songs they relate to will also be memory kickers for them.

It was a trumpet I think, and it was so freaking fantastic...will almost cause an "O" listening to it...it will bring back a lot of memories for a whole bunch of ppl if only we can find it...

Wife of 51 years, WOW. [:)] I hope that the hubbie and I reach that milestone. We have have 25 years and are moving right along. Yep, a song can bring back memories, sometimes for the first time in years.

I like the Jim Reeves version better. But then I'm a Jim Reeves fan from way back.

for those who like 'the old stuff' I found this site while surfing the 'net last week.
you can hear the entire song, and download them as well it looks like.

Look for the recitation of Taps..kind of a history of the tune...by John Wayne. WOW
