I know Cheaper than dirt is the name of the retailer, but that also sums up my feelings about taurus manufacturing.

    what a chunk of poop!

look at the mag well on that thing. engineered by a wannabe Italian who lives in brazil.

    what a god damn nightmare.

how do they plan on importing that POS? does that gay * stock count as a thumbhole?

there are a lot of quality weapons we can't import and then they let complete crap enter this country.

great... more crap on the market. tacticool crap

I'm no fan of Taurus guns, but that magwell is one of the only things I LIKE about that gun.

Its contoured to act as a vertical foregrip. Nice touch.

On the thumbhole stock, IMO they're **ALL* pretty stupid-looking. I wouldn't blame the manufacturer, but our legislators for writing stupid cosmetic-based gun laws.

As to the rest of it, who cares if its imported or not?

Personally, I don't see how having more choices on the market is a BAD thing. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy this gun.

If it truly is as lousy as everyone is saying, then it will quickly get a bad reputation, Taurus won't sell many, and they'll get dropped from sale.

And here is the press release:
    quote:
Taurus has its first entry into the handgun caliber carbine market with the all new CT G2. Available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP, the new carbine from Taurus includes a full length Picatinny rail for mounting optics or other accessories, an adjustable rear and fixed front sight, and an ambidextrous magazine slide release.

The rifle has an overall length of just over 31 inches with a 16 inch barrel. Ammunition capacity ranges from 34+1 in 9mm to 15+1 in .40, and 10+1 in .45 ACP. Weight varies from just over 8 lbs to 9 1/4 lbs, depending on caliber.

MSRP and date of availability is unknown at this time.

Taurus CT G2From the press release:

Developed in conjunction with leading military and law enforcement personnel, the all-new Taurus Carbine CT G2 takes command of any situation. Already heralded around the world for its top-end performance, reliability and workmanship- this impressive carbine is now available in the USA.

The Carbine CT G2 is built to last with hybrid aluminum polymer, reinforced steel frame, black anodized finish and high-strength polymer lower receiver reinforced with steel. Flat top aluminum upper receiver with built-in Picatinny rail allows for further customization. Additional features include a two-position safety/fire selector, adjustable rear sight, fixed front sight and ambidextrous slide catch.

    My comments?

At 8+ lbs, this gun is NOT light.

I don't understand why it will take 34 rounds in 9mm (probably a double stack extended Taurus/Beretta 92 mag) but only 10 rounds in .45ACP.

At the price I'd expect these to retail for (maybe $500-600), I don't think I'm going to be buying one.

A 9mm AR upper should cost right about the same amount, and will do more or less the same thing without being ugly or proprietary.

Taurus is very close to being the Yugo of firearms, the only thing keeping them from the title is the fact a Raven surfaces every once in a while.

    Imagine this;

Someone makes a carbine length barrel assembly and a stock conversion for the Taurus 9mm pistol. Even the 92 would be decent as I have always found them reliable.

It's a good thing it comes with a lifetime warranty!
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

You forget about one minor thing... The BATFE. And, that thing is ugly, impractical, and heavy.
