my saw that is. i'm not sure how old the ol girl is. i know it it was last serviced in april of 87[:D]. i'm thinking maybe in 1974.
if i had all the wood that thing cut i would never have to cut another stick the rest of my life
it got to where it would only run about 10 minutes, then shut off. let it cool and run another 10.
took it to the shop and the guy tells me it's really not worth investing any money in. the case is cracked, needs an air filter and he said points and condenser. he said at the minimun it would be $150. and would not know for sure till he operated. hell that is 1/3 of a new saw, so i came home with this

As to your 032 AV, I bet with some TLC and a few parts it would still be servicable.
These old Stihls are tough and a worthy winter project.[;)]
She's still got plenty of life left in'er!!
If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!
after you use the 311 for a while you will wonder why you didn't get the 032 fixed.
you might be right[:D]
the new one is a little heavier, but it has a biger c.i. and more h.p.
