Just saw this on a local news website. Yesterday a man walked into a bank in Louisville with a rifle and took hostages. SWAT arrived and talked him into releasing the hostages. He then came out and refused to put the rifle down. SWAT shot and killed him. His family say's he had mental issues and it was suicide by cop. I thought this description of the "rifle" he used was interesting.

I would have taken it from him and then let people in the bank take turns shooting him with it...

Who lets themselves get taken hostage by a guy with something just 1 step above a toy- 1 shot and hes gotta pump it up again.

I woulda risked it- especially if I got in the paper as being a "hero" (they love to use that term for just about anything now adays)- even if it got shot, it would be worth it for the resulting successes I'd have at the local bars.

A bunch of pansies who don't fight back- thats how one guy with 2 pistols in close quarters was able to kill 32 people, if a couple of them threw a text book while he was facing the other way and rushed him, it would have been over with far less deaths.

It may turn into more fodder for the ban fans, but point one at them and see if they're not concerned for their safety. Maybe that would give them some perspective.

And I just suspect he wasn't shot because he was HOLDING a gun. More than likely there was still some kind of threatening behavior going on.
