WHAT CLASS

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/the-insider/Fitty-in-the-city-50-Cent-to-promote-vodka-in-Philly.html

The rapper 50 Cent has some income to help with that new bankruptcy filing.

On July 22, Fitty will sign bottles of Effen Vodka from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fine Wine & Good Spirits Premium Collection store, on Girard Avenue near Second Street in Northern Liberties.

Joshua Albert of Spirit Newspapers points out that in April, Curtis James Jackson III sold 277 gallons of the vodka (or 13 bottles a minute) in just three hours at a Syracuse liquor warehouse.

Effen, which costs $24.99 for a 750ml bottle, is distilled in the Netherlands.

For those who think the name is simply a bowdlerized obscenity, know it's a Dutch term meaning "smooth, even and balanced."

It's actually a very good vodka. $25 a bottle seems high, but that might be Philly prices.

That bottle would look good with a confederate flag on the front and a tractor on the back.

How does Curtis Jackson's endorsement of Effen Vodka differ from Bruce Willis' endorsement of Sobiski vodka? How do the promote "thug mentality"?

I don't care about who he is or what he does, I posted this due to the synonymous name of the vodka, just one more step of our degrading society

but your comparing bruce willis to a convicted drug dealer, and rapper ?

guess you never listened to his songs or read the lyrics

The vodka has been around for at least 10 years in the States, so I fail to see how a Dutch name signifies a "degrading of our society", whatever that means.

And, yes, I am comparing the two. Mr. Jackson has a conviction...so? Shall I list all the celebrities with felony convictions with endorsement deals?

To suggest Jackson's endorsement has nothing to do with the brand name's American connotation is either extremely na?ve or willfully ignorant.

stay within the subject, don't try to mislead

but if you must list others outside of those 2 you compared to prove your point, don't leave out the rappers, if you listed all the actors and actresses since the silent screen vs the criminal rappers since rap started you would lose that argument too

    The thug mentality.....

    Effen' Vodka?

    Pretty easy to see.

And somebody with a conviction is no longer "Mr.".
