I just bought a large lot of old cardboard ammo boxes. Most are Remington Kleanbore, some Targetmasters, some S+W brand,Brownings, Sears Ted Williams ,with some others mixed in. I need to lay out some of the best ones and sell the rest. Anyone have any ideas as to which ones to look for, or calibers that would have more collector interests. I saw some 38 acp, 45 colt, 32 S+W long, 32 acp, and alot of common cal 30-30, 30-06, 38 spc, 308.

I was looking around on the internet and was looking at some of the ammo boxes my Dad had and the prices are crazy. Some boxes were 150 without ammo and my Dads have the ammo.

I can not see paying for stuff like that. Thats crazy. I have 5 boxes of 22 short Winchester that they are asking crazy prices for.

Yeah, it's shocking. There was an old hardware in my home town that was closed and sold out at auction. The back rooms were lined with storage bins made of empty wooden ammo boxes. Dad bought 50 or 100 for a couple of bucks and we moved them to our shop for the same purpose. There were pickup loads of shotshell and centerfire crates(mostly 30-30 and 30/06). Those boxes would be worth a year's salary now.

But the asking prices are one thing, and the number of people willing to pay those prices, are another.

As a collector of boxed ammo, I have paid some large sums for the right boxes.

As with any collectable, non collectors do not understand.
