Lawn Roller

After about 20 years, I'm going to redo the crushed rock drive. It will be #53 stone. I would like to compact it using a roller. My question is if a 24" x 52" (900#) roller is heavy enough for this job.
Thanks guys,

..On the rare occasion that I roll our lawn, I go to the rental place for a ride-on mini asphalt roller. I think it weighs around 2,500 lbs.
Since that's divided between two drums, it works great, but I have no idea what crushed rock requires.

I gotta think it would be better if you used something heavier.

I don't know the math. But I'm not sure 900 lbs will do much to gravel.

Box scraper and a garden hose did nicely for me.

Thanks for the replies. The more I think about it 900# on a 52" wide roller does seem too lite to be effective.

you can not compact clean stone. you can drive it into dirt, but placing it on a already hard surface, it will just roll or move on you trying to compact
think about it. place one rock on the other that is as tight as it gets
using dirty crusher run is a different thing

That's all I use is from a crusher, use 3/4 open.

Was always taught if you use river rock it roll on roll off it just does not stay.

When I do my driveway I use a load of dirt or gravel in the loader on my tractor for weight and spend some time driving up and down. Really packs it down good.
