You all like animals, right? Well, here's the deal: I have a friend who is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. It'll kill him eventually.
One thing he really loves is animals. The Animal Rescue Site has a challenge going on. The top vote-getting shelter will win a $20,000 prize, and there are other cash prizes as well. It would really mean a lot to my friend if his shelter won the grand prize, or one of the other ones.
Here's what you do:
Go to this site: http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/
Just click on the button and you'll be donating 0.6 bowls of food to a shelter every day. Vote every day!
Above that there's a link to the Shelter Challenge. Click on that. Enter Paulding, or Paulding Humane Society in the search box, and choose GA from the drop-down menu and click search. You'll see Paulding Humane Society listed in Dallas, Georgia. Click the Vote button. You'll be taken to a page with a picture of an animal. Type in the name of the animal to verify your vote. (This is so people can't use 'bots to stuff the ballot box.)
That's it. By clicking the donation button you're donating food and it doesn't cost you a cent; just a mouse click. By voting for Paulding in Dallas, GA you're helping my friend help his local shelter. It's ranked #12 in Georgia right now. It sure would be nice to bring it to number one!
My friend says it doesn't matter if you vote for his local shelter, as he cares about animals wherever they are. But he says it would 'make his LIFE' if his shelter won.
Be sure to vote every day!
By the way, HBO is starting a multi-part series on Alzheimer's Disease tonight at 2100 Eastern. Alzheimer's is the Number 2 most feared disease in this country, after cancer. I've got my DVR set.
Thank you.

OK got it now. Had to select shelter challenge tab from right side of screen.

Reason being one day my mom called me and said she had a dog hanging out in her driveway, and didn't know if everything was OK with it.
Told her to stay inside, and I drove over.
Found a lab/mutt mix that was mainly suffering from dehydration.
I gave it water, and a small amount of food. I looked for a tag, and found their info on it, as well as specifying the dog had a chip implanted.
Gave the woman a call in Georgia, and she knew exactly which dog it was, and got really hot. Tracked the folks down vacationing at some friends place close to my moms house. They didn't even realize the dog was gone yet, but came and picked it up, and thanked me.
A few days later the woman from the animal agency called me to thank me, and said they had returned home, and she was calling them in for a "consult" per se.
She ended up taking the dog away, and re-adopting it out when their answers didn't make sense to her.
I guess they signed an agreement, and didn't live up to it.
And thanks for donating some cash. Just a reminder to others, you don't have to donate money. The food donation click is free, and so is the voting.

Lots of Altalnta shelters ahead of it. But I'm rooting* for the underdog!
*Yeah, any passing Aussies are going to laugh at that.
Paulding is #10 in Georgia! Top ten, baby! [:)]
Wait. I don't want to know.
Thanks for voting!
You better bump it daily.
You better bump it daily.
I would, but she won't let me!
Oh. You meant the thread. I TOTALLY misunderstood! [:I]

I already voted again today!
I remembered all on my own.
Dallas is a pretty small town (Heck, I think my little seaside village might be as big or bigger!), so it's going to be tough to push it up with all of the animal-lovers in Atlanta and Marietta.

Sadly, my friend's Alzheimers is getting the better of him, and he's been depressed. Maybe this will cheer him up.
Paulding has fallen to #11. [:(]
I got my vote in today, and logged into my work computer and voted again! [:p]
Darn it! Darn it to heck!

I voted again also,....have been every day.
I believe you will be correct about the Atlanta area shelters.
Tough to beat out a Metro area.
I went to the Paine Field General Aviation Day today, and there was a shelter there. (What's an animal shelter have to do with aviation? What, you've never heard of airedales? [:p] ) They had a three-legged dog there (not for adoption -- he was 'staff') that resembled yours, savage170.
Paulding is still #11 in Georgia.
If you keep bumping I'll keep on voting otherwise I forget to
Thanks for helping!
Got my votes in today.
