Find a kid in the hood who is good at and likes to climb trees. Maybe he can put it in a small carrier and lower it down with some rope.

As for the bird seems a Blue and Gold McCa? When my sister had my younger nephew her and her husband needed a place for a Blue and Gold to stay so my family took one in for a year and a half maybe two years. These birds are nothing like crazy parrots. Parrots are difficult and the McCa's are entertaining and affectionate. They will pick one person and bond with them and in our case I was the lucky human. :) I remember I could roll the bird on it's back and cradle it like a Baby and "Baby" was his name. He liked to be held like a baby but only by the person he bonded with. A very fun pet to have around. Cats did not want to mess with him either. He'd chase the cats off if they got too close and curious. They knew that beak
    could mess up their day.

That's an expensive turkey to shoot. Blue and Gold Macaw. I reckon a long pole with a slip noose. When the bird bites the noose trap the beak. Unless you got one of those new net throwers on your shotgun.

It's a bird, isn't it? Birds have wings, don't they? It's not stuck.

That is a good point. I hope it comes down and doesn't just fly away.

Yes, as of 5am PST it is still on the same perch. The cage and food is out on the porch and his perch is there as well.

Wow!!! They are lucky it hasn't gone.

I wonder if they put some shiney things down on the ground if it would come down???

It is my understanding that they are pretty curious and like "bobbles".....maybe silver bowls with water in them????

    Anything is worth a try.

I wonder if the fire dept. would come out and try using one of their ladders to get it?

That was my first suggestion, FD. Then I proposed building scaffolding to reach him, Lord knows I have plenty! He declined as he didn't want to scare it ti death.

I think a power washer would be a good thing to startle it. It is too high up for a garden hose.

He just wants to sit it out, oh well!

I will tell him about the shiny things.

What the heck I put my parrot outside everyday uncaged. He flies all over the place and when he gets tired he just comes back and sits on top of his cage. Put his cage out side leave him alone and he will probably just fly back to it.

Hopefully, and this is what he is trying. He hasn't owned the bird for very long so he is not sure what to think. The bird has been there long enough to know where it's home is. It is still up there, maybe he doesn't like his owner?

How long has this guy owned the bird? Something else is going on.

Was the bird spooked by something before it went up there?

edit...did he try the spaghetti thing? I actually wasn't kidding.

Hasn't tried spaghetti, he hasn't owned it long. I don't know the details of what occurred before it fled.

I told him he is gonna need to go up after it.

Um...now look...now look, mate, I've definitely 'ad enough of this. That parrot is definitely deceased, and when I purchased it not 'alf an hour ago, you assured me that its total lack of movement was due to it bein' tired and shagged out following a prolonged squawk. [;)]

He's still up there and it is raining heavy. He is gonna have to climb up or get a bucket. It is on a hill and not accessible by the FD.

I want to build some scaffold. He is stubborn and wants to wait it out...

    The saga continues.

What's he gonna do with a bucket????

If he climbs that tree and tries to grab that bird I can just about guarantee he's gonna' ride he express elevator to the dirt! I damn sure wouldn't want to try to catch a Macaw that didn't want to be caught...let alone try to do it in a tree!!!

Oops! a man lift. I agree, I think he will wait it out and see what happens

    Has he tried beer?

Tell him to sit in a chair where he can see the bird.
    And drink beer.

Try that every night for a week.

I'm sure the bird will come down.

A friend of mine that I went to school with came home one day to find a big green parrot sitting on his front porch. He opened his front door and the bird came on in on his own. He built a perch for the bird in the corner of his living room and George sat there on the perch without a cage for several years never offering to go outside. Then one day as if he was tired of hanging around he went out on the porch and flew away never to be seen again. Strange bird. Hard telling where he went and how long he stayed at his next home.

Someone previously stated it was a Macaw. You can find Macaw bird sounds on the internet (several sites). I would try playing these sounds/calls near his cage. Worth a try.
