    Thanks legear,

So far only good things heard about Kel Tec. Checked out your model and it does look like a sweet item. Again, thanks! [8D]

I have a SU16CA (Threaded barrel) and I am surprised how well it shoots.
Lite as can be and I recommend the CA with a brake which tames the recoil of such a lite gun.

No, it does not compare to my Les Baer M4 but guess what???? I do not have to clean the SU16 so the LBC sits in the safe and I take the KT most often to shoot particularly when i do close combat style training.

It does on occasion get a spent case caught when the bolt closes but I found it does not do so with Israeli M193 ammo so that is what I keep in mags for defensive purposes.

I consider this my instead of a pistol if I have a choice gun.

I put a cheap EOTech clone on mine and for short range it is dead on and holds zero just fine.

It is not an impressive range gun and not a great bench gun but for what it is supposed to be it is an exceptional carbine in the truest sense of the word. Much better IMO than a cheap AR/M4 for that job.

I have a P11 and an SU2000 in .40 w/Glock mags. Both guns have been reliable and never given me any trouble. I would expect the same from any gun they make.

BTW, I've been trying to buy a PF9, but there aren't any around here. Everyone says the same thing, they're on BO.[:(]

Wullfman, I am now psched about getting the kel tec 16. I just want it as back up to side arem when backpacking in woods. Where do you source your M193 rounds (i.e. ammo man, cheaper than dirt, etc)? I am limited to Walmart and a very few small gun shops.
    Thanks for the info.

    Bubba Jr,
I've seen the SU in 40...sweet. Thinking of a 9mm option to take advantage of the 9mm availability and interchangeablity of the mags. Thanks for you input.

I've seem IMI 223 ammo for a fairly good price on wideners.com. also there are good deals to be found on the auction side if you don't mind looking and waiting for them.

One nice thing about the Sub 2000 is the ability to purchase a gun that may take the same mags as your pistol. They come in the following versions.

    The 9mm SUB-2000 can be configured in the following magazine types: GLK17, GLK19, S&W59, BERETTA92, SIG226.

    The .40 SUB-2000 can be configured in the following magazine types: GLK22, GLK23, BERETTA96, S&W4006, SIG226.

The Kel Tec rifles that i've shot all shot fine, but were not very heavy duty. If you are going to need something LIGHT, they are a great way to go however. I went for the bushmaster carbon 15 instead, and have been more than happy with it. It does weigh a little more, but i can run it until it is too hot to hold without anything melting on it. Well, except my hands getting burned, but any AR series will do that after 600 rounds in just a few minutes.

Like Josh posted Wideners is the best place to get IMI and it was tested the most accurate of the military ammo.
They had a super sale but now it is back to regular price, $389.00 for a case of 1200 rounds M193 55gr ammo.

Note, Wideners has stated the next batch will be at a higher price and all ammo will jump in April because of higher copper, brass and lead prices on the commodity market.

The version with the brake is worth the extra few bucks and there are two version. One has a folding stock you can shoot while folded. the other folds up for storage but can only be shot when extended. That one has two 10 round mags inside the butt stock and, IMO, is the better to have.

Thanks for the extra info. Very good point about the ability to shoot in the folded position...you never know.
    Again, thanks!

    The P2000 9mm folded is 16Lx7 1/4H x 1 1/4"wide and weighs 4lbs. The 10 rd loaded mag weighs 1/4#.
Bullets from the 16" barrel have 357Mag power.
It's a hoot to shoot and may be a better back packing gun than the 16.
