NEF Pardner Protector.....opinions

I went to the local gun shop to order my new shotgun, a Mossberg 500. But, when I told the guy what I wanted, he showed me a NEF Pardner Protector 12ga. He told me that it was built on a Remington 870, all 870 accessories would fit, some with minor fitting and that it was much less expensive than either the 870 or 500. I told him I would have to do some homework and I would let him know this Friday. Any advice?

The military chose the mossberg over the remington...

I have looked at those shotguns locally and they sell for about $150.00 around here. If I needed a utility shotgun for a little money I'd get one. You can usually get a used 870 for about that but the NEF's look solid.

I don't like the mossbergs and yes I have owned three, a 12 gauge, a twenty gauge and a .410 pump. Just didn't like em.

Are you going to be using it for work? I would only get the 870 or a 500. I would not carry the Pardner on duty. It might be ok, but I know where I can get the exact parts for an 870 or a 500. Even if you got an express 870 on here and put a short barrel on it, you would still be under 250-300.

I remember when Glocks first came out and folks were saying that the hi point was a glock copy. Lots of copies out there.
