Turkey season cancelled in East Texas

Although the TPWD website doesn't reflect any cancellations I heard on the radio the East Texas spring turkey season has been cancelled. The drought has struck our turkey population. Anyone hear anything about this? This will reflect on 28 counties.

Other than deer I've only seen buzzards drinking out of the water barrel I keep out back. We are getting more rain lately but the lakes nearby are still several feet low. The season was to be April 15th thru May 14th. Again,I only heard this on the radio, not on the website as of yet. And the county of Anderson where I live has no turkey season although I am definitly in East Texas.
