Took Kids To The County Fair...Funny...Pics Added

Last Monday evening we went to the local county fair and took along Bry and his aunt, Damya. (Pronounced Da-MY-A, not DAM-ya) Bry is 2 1/2 and Damya is 5. The kids had a great time, and it was well worth the money spent on the wristbands for the rides.

Dawnie was waiting in line for something or other, and I had gone back to the car for my camera. Bry was circling, staying where Dawnie could see him, but not right with her. He ran upon a group of teenagers, and they apparently thought he was lost, since he is black, and they didn't see any black adults nearby, and started talking to him.

"Hey, little man, where's your momma?"

"Right there." (Pointing at Dawnie)

They were unconvinced until Dawnie told them that he was with her.

A little later, Bry was wandering around and literally ran into a uniformed police officer who was working at the fair. He hollered, "Papaw!" Then he looked up, and saw it was not I, and he said, "Oh no! You not Papaw!" and he ran back to Dawnie.

I love stuff like that! Kids are entertaining even when they're not trying!

David, you and Dawnie are the salt of the earth. Thank you for loving and caring for the children who need you![;)]

It's good to be out with the little ones. My grandson and I have been on our first walks around the neighborhood this past week. I think I am going to be doing more of the same with him and the wife this summer. I kinda look forward to that too.
    What's next?

Just reminded me of one day, my lady and I were shopping, TINY little girl (maybe 18 months) quietly walks up, takes my wife's hand with one hand, thumb of other hand in mouth, wife looks at me, I just grinned. About 20 seconds later, little one looks up, realizes OMIGOD THAT AIN'T MOM I AM HOLDING ON TO !!!!!! and explodes into tears. Mom was about 20 ft away, putting something in cart, and I guess when you are 2 ft tall, blue jeans is blue jeans. Glad the kids had a good time at the fair. We have a couple of godchildren that confuse folks a lot- different skin color. Never confused the kids, tho.

Sounds like you and Dawnie had as much or more fun than the kids.

Your county fairs start early. Here in Iowa, ours usually begin in July with the state fair at the end of August. It's usually hotter than hell then.

That's funny. I know that my little one will see a big man once in while when we are out getting groceries and think it's me until she looks up. Being that I am 6'6" and 350 pounds she doesn't get scared of big guys like me, like I see some kids do. There fun at that age, because the whole world is out there to explore yet. Enjoy them while they are still small.

Oh by the way, the cheese cutter I got from you works great, Thanks.

Friend of mine used to use a tag line "Happier then a trailer park kid who's daddy sold cans to take em to the state fair"!
    Guess they were eh?
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!
