NYT is reporting breaking news that Russert is dead. Can't find anything but the headline though. Anybody else hear anything? I always liked "Meet the Press."

Heart attack at 58; reported on FOX. Shepard Smith is talking with Chris Wallace about it now.

Russert is a left liberal wiennie.

I wouldn't pee on on his leg if his pants were on fire.

Yep. He's dead of heart attack at 58.

I have always respected Tim Russert.

There is a difference in an intelligent argument based on personal views and subversive attitudes.

Russert was a fair player, IMO and if this is true it is a big lose to all of us.

He provoked rational debate from all sides and this staunch conservative is sadden to hear about his death.

I knew that he slanted towards the Democrats but I didn't know he was a former Democratic Party employee and political operative. No wonder he was so biased. Would a former Republican campaign employee be able to present himself as an unbiased journalist and get away with it from the rest of the media?

    Also a lawyer.

You've got to be kidding. Fair? Intelligent debate?

What he was good at was opposing who ever was on his show. He did his homework and made it tough for R or D.
I am not one to call everyone that is not like me evil.
I also like to hear rational argument as if I can not debate such then I can not be sure of my positions.
Some just want to be in the choir and hear what they think repeated.
I want to hear from the other side but not narrow minded liberals either.

I am most certainly not kidding.

If you wanted to beat his argument you had to have your facts very straight.
    Some don't like tough competition!!

He was a good journalist. I enjoyed watching him.
I had noticed recently that he was looking overweight.

    Rest In Peace Tim Russert.

I don't see where Alpine said anything insulting to you. You want to disagree with him about the nature of Russert's reporting qualities, that's fine. But skip the personal comments.

I would never rejoice in the death of someone simply because I didn't agree with his philosophy or political affiliation. He was intelligent, informed and well-respected and will be missed by many. RIP, Tim.

I think I would have enjoyed having a dinner conversation with Russert moreso than a few others. He was fair, unbiased in his questioning, and was never cruel in his interviews.

Tim Russert was not a member of this forum. He was a public figure and while Alpine's comment was uncouth it didn't violate posting guidelines. Your insult was directed at a member. You now compound that violation by calling me an insulting variation of my name. You are stacking posting violations one on top of another.

I suggest you stop while you're behind.

You need to explain that, SaxonPig.

Tim Russert died today. He was widely respected as a journalist and as a man who loved his family and his country. Tim was a real person, we knew who he was, what he did, where he worked and lived. We know the names of his family and friends. His family, his friends and his fans grieve his passing.

Alpine posts about urinating on Tim Russert, a clear insult to Russert, his fans, his friends and his family, and he does it on a public forum. Alpine didn't post that he disagreed with Russert, he posted a vile insult, in public, where anyone, Russert's friends and family' could read it. It was obviously the intent of Alpine to insult a man on the day he died, and to do that right "in the face" of Russert's family and friends.

    You think that's okay.

Alpine is nobody and nothing, an anonymous name on a message board. No one, no where knows or cares who or what he is. No one knows who his friends and family are. No one is hurt if I post about uninating on him/her, an unknown nothing.

    And you find THAT offensive.

How does that make sense to you, Pig?

I liked Mr. Russert. Idealogical differences aside, I respected him. I'll miss his "Go Bills!" when he signed off during football season. Even though I'm not a Bills fan, Buffalo and Western NY in general get a bad rap. It means a lot to me, as a native
WNY'er that he doesn't try to distance himself from his roots.
Flimsy excuse or not, I'll miss him.

It makes sense to him because it mirrors his own views. Not everyone can moderate impartially like Russert did.

He was a great friend of the Buffalo Bills and the NFL.

And so perhaps you should represent yourself to take his place?[xx(]

With regards to being an unbiased reporter/moderator, I must admit some of the posts paint a different picture of Tim Russert than what I remember.

However, that is no longer relevant. My prayers go out to his family, especially since Sunday is Father's Day. I know they will remember him as the good husband, good father, and good son that I am certain he was!
