.22 TCM, Seen One?

Interesting cartridge. .223 case cut down, necked to .22 caliber with overall length short enough to feed through a normal 1911 9mm action. Customer ordered one, and loves it.

2100 FPS with a 40 grain bullet out of a 5" barrel. The Rock Island Armory 1911A2 is a wide body, and the magazine holds 18 rounds.

It makes a heap more sense than that silly 5.7 FN round.

Sounds like the 224 BOZ round which is made from .357SIG brass STI makes a 1911 style pistol for that round. Ive seen it on here.

I may get one, but I would require a single-stack platform made by a company other than RIA, so I will have to wait.

BTW, the customer says the recoil is negligible, so the gun is very controllable for follow-up shots, but the muzzle blast is brutal.

Is there 'factory' ammo on the market ? What kinda of price for what quanity ?

It seems to be a proprietary round, at least for now, available through RIA. They do offer a reloading service. Send the brass in and they reload it and ship it back.

If it catches on, I figure dies and reloading data will become available.

I would like to see how this round performs on a 9mm carbine platform.

Been reading a little more on it. Ammo is about $20 per fifty. Dies are not available yet but will be. They will reload your empties for $12.50 per fifty. The pistol also comes with a 9mm barrel and recoil spring.
Once the dies are available I think I will get one. If not sooner. Sounds like a fun shooter.
