Any current or former Army Armorers? Question?

How do I go about requesting (or acquiring) a kit to turn my 240B into a 240D?

I never have to dis-mount my weapon from my humvee turret while on mission, so it'd be nice to have it more user friendly for a primary weapon on a gun truck.

I thought about doing the same thing to my 240 and never got around to looking into it.

Here's what you do. Go over to the Small Arms Repair Shop that is near Stryker and ask those guys. They're civilians from Rock Island and can do about anything.

Ask what class of parts the kit is to change it over. I know you can order all the stuff to do it, but not sure if you're ALLOWED to do it. If I had the number to that place I'd give it to ya. I'm sure you've seen signs for the place. It's in the parking lot with the people that builds the rhinos and installs them on vehicles.

Let me know if you need better directions, maybe I can dig em up from somewhere. Those armorers are top notch though.

The thing is, though, is that I'm pretty much on lock-down unless I'm on a mission or I'm told to go somewhere to do a specific task. They don't let us wander around much.

it's called the "Small Arms Support Center" and I think the bus goes by it.

Check out the parts manual and get the code for the parts.

You have a valid idea if you're on an MRAP, it's hard to point and shoot the 240B on a pintle mount.

With the IOTV, DAPS, and VICS that I wear in the turret, and me being as tall as I am, it's impossible to get down behind a 240B to use the sights if I should have to shoot it. And that's just on an 1151.

They we're still using M60's when I was in. I take it that is in 308, what's the 223 belt fed called?

I see a lot of the 223 versions around with either full stocks or 2 types of collapsible stocks. 1 is an AR carbine style other looks almost like an HK colapsible stock.

    Hummer huh? Yikes...

Is that a permanent mod, or would you be able to keep the parts for both? I'd like to do that for my 240Bravos when they're on trucks.
The TAMCN would probably change for the Delta though, so I doubt that you could do it without submitting a TO/E change requeste.

It's a mod that anyone with any knowledge of the weapon and use of basic tools can do in probably 5 to 10 minutes. It's not permanent.

Pity you boys cant go sight see.Z Great thing about Kuwaut is we contractor guys could go to town all we wanted but troopies had to stay on post. Funny thing is Brit Civilians did too. Mosul we had to stay in. Cept when one of those antennas broke[xx(]

Dont. Your truck gets f'd up on patrol, and you have to dismount you want it usable. Do you mount yours with a pintle or the flex mount?

Pintle. We don't dismout. We don't have enough people. If our truck get's f-ed up, then there's a distinct possibility that the people inside it are too f-ed up to do any good on the ground. Our mission dictates that we have to run with skeleton crews. Our SOP for a disabled vehicle is to do a hasty recovery, get out of the kill zone, and then call for reenforcements.

So I was hearing last night that they used to have alcohol available for the contractors over here till the Army outlawed it on Gen Order #1. Seems too many people working for my company got out of hand.

Man I swear I always miss out. Last company I worked for used to have a bar and cocktail hour before I got there. Buddy of mine back home, is an Army 1st Lt. Told me my goal over here was to hook the Army up with booze. That's hard to do when there none over here and penalty for being caught with it = termination. [V]

Just get a TM, look up the numbers and start ordering. Looks as if you'll have to order a trigger assy. and buffer assy. from a regular 240 coaxial. Then order your spade grip or "D" assy. I would think you should be able to order it in a kit.

If you have a good supply sergeant or you know the person who orders parts in the motor pool, they should be able to get it for you. You could wait forever for it if you have your unit armorer order it for you.

I am pretty sure that if you put it on a flex mount it moves it further forward (its been a couple years). If you dont dismount, what do you guys do? Your sig shows crossed rifles. Are you convoy escort? If you take fire do you just return fire, or do you 1 and 1A?

If you have mass cas and multiple vehicles down whats the SOP? Its a * to even fit one litter in a HMMWV. You have to cut down the litter handles a couple inches on each side to fit accross the back seats. Best move would be clear the closest house, put in security and set up a CCP and wait for QRF. 240 is extremely valuable in perimiter defense because its a PITA to dismount a .50 and then where is your tripod? Do you at least have a m4 as well when you are in the turret?
