I have lost 5 chickens in 3 days. They get locked in the coop at night. I put a trail camera up last night as saw 3 raccoons climb the fence and crawl the window. I shot one off the fence and another on the ground. Waiting to see if the other one shows up now.

well its a start . have not had any around for a while did notice skunk smell in the air last night .
I like to go out at night and pop the rats, * , possums , any other vermin in the chicken area .

If they're climbing the fence, you can put a hot wire on extended insulators about waist high on the outside of the wire. They won't/can't get past that. Set a live trap along the fence baited with part of a dead chicken. That will get them as they're walking the fence looking for an access point. * will return to a food source until caught. I've had them come back even after being caught and released a couple of times.

When we had chicken I covered the windows with hail screen. It keep the critters out.

Got the last racoon this morning. We have had chickens for years and never had a problem. Fixed all the fences back up and am going to put two strands of electric fence up.

I had 2 traps baited with tuna fish and cat food. The reactions walked right past them to get intro the coop

Try baiting with an empty but still oily sardine can.I guess if U can, leave a sardine in the can.(tough for me cuz I love sardines)[8D]

What rifle and caliber did you use? Did they run or drop instantly? FMJ or hollow point? What type of sight? Night vision?

I'm sure just about anything would work, but inquiring minds are dying to know.
