Power went off

No AC and no electric fans with temperatures expected in the high 90s. I can stand some discomfort but I really worry about our two older dogs in the heat. If the power doesn't come back on by early afternoon when it starts to really warm up I'll have to wear them down in the bathtub and keep them cool. This has been a problem for the 14 years we've lived in this house. There is some sort of equipment on a pole down at the end of the street and it goes boom and explodes and then we lose power. I bet it's happened 50 times since we've lived here and they can't seem to keep it from happening.

We had that same type problem living in a small town in Southeast Tennessee back in the 90s. I finally broke down and bought a generator. And then of course the power only went off one more time for a short period over the next 2 years. Then I was transferred out of state on my job and never used it again. I still have the generator and it's not been started since 1997. icon_rolleyes.gif

"I really worry about our two older dogs in the heat"
Man's got to have his priorities. I'd be worried about my freezer and fridge. That's why I have a back-up generator plus a portable welder w/generator either of which will run the freezers in the house, and a medium sized generator to run the freezer in the shed.
Power goes off here in the sticks regularly due to vehicle accidents, storms, or stupid raccoons that short out transformers. If you're not prepared-learn to accept losses.

Reminds me when I was a kid, that transformer near our house was always "exploding" and would lose power. We thought it was the coolest thing ever. This went on for years also before they ever fixed it

Went with out A/C for eight horrible July days back in 2012. Bought a generator and a couple window units to atleast have a couple cool rooms. It must have worked, no extended outages since!! [;)]
