well he/ she may have had load of illegal fill in the blank ---( people weed coke ?? maye all of the above ) who knows just looking like a tourist being careful
I would guess the driver but then with the new smaller engine better fuel claims it may have just underpowered as you suggest.

Either way, however you look at it that setup is dangerous and a highway hazard for other motorists I was doing 30mph on that hill and walked right by him. Bust them truckers and leave the tourists alone they say!! [}:)][;)][:D]

Used to embarrass people in my old 73 Chev. Would pull Willamette Pass towing a travel trailer and my had my cabover camper on the back of the truck. It only had a built 350 in it. But then I was not afraid to put my foot in it. Not sure how many cars I passed loaded like that.

I would have blown the engine just to keep a semi from passing me.

Must be a big block Chevy. No comparison to a Ford V10 or a diesel and the V10 and diesel get much better gas mileage.

Looks to me like a 1500 Z71 which would typically be a 5.3 liter.

He probably does OK on flat land so rather than take a chance on ruining their vacation with a blown engine he decided to creep up the grade. That's what I would do if I were pulling a trailer to big for the tow vehicle.
