AR stripped lower full auto?

I saw a stripped AR receiver at a pawn shop today that was marked full-auto, semi-auto, safety. Full auto capable

It had the markings at the selector switch for full, semi and safe.

A guy was all excited over it. He was a big guy and talking all "cool".

He had a side arm open carry, I looked and noticed he had no magazine in his handgun. The holster was of the type that had the mag. pouch on the front, there was a magazine in the pouch and not the gun. ???

He bought the receiver for $250.

What would it take to build a full-auto rifle of this sripped receiver, legally?

    My guess.

    Description:

Semi-auto lower receiver is machined from a 7075 T6 aluminum forging to mil-spec dimensions for precise fit and outstanding performance. Ruggedized hardcoat anodized finish resists scuffs, scratches, and wear. Stamped and color-coded bullet selector position markings notify operator when weapon is in "safe" or "semi-auto." A "full-auto" position is not selectable but gives this semi-auto lower receiver the appearance of being multi-burst capable. Magazine well features Spike's spider logo and multi-cal engraving. Stripped Lower comes as a standalone component without trigger group, mag release, selector, or bolt release.

besides the LPK for auto, a firearms manufacturing liscence and a lot of paperwork. and it wouldn'y be legal to sell to an individual, only LEO, IIRC

If the lower is not "blocked" you would need a registered Drop In Auto Sear to complete the receiver into a functional machine gun. The sear would cost somewhere between $8,000 and $10,000.

Just get a hold of one of those slide fire stocks and spray ammo down range. Its a lot cheaper than a full auto AR[:D]

To add, a young man standing next to me, whom I found to be very annoying, was spouting off. He says " You don't need that full auto receiver, all you need to do is put it on a lathe and drill a hole to drop the auto-sear in it, We do it all the time!"

I couldn't help it, I retort " I think there is a little more to it than that."

He states in an outside voice "BS, all you need to do is drill it!"

I just smiled and walked out...

    What a maroon!

There are many out there as in beeramids picture just marked with the extra auto markings, its just a regular ar, the safety will not go past fire just because the marking is there

To me it is just asking to be harassed

To me this sort of thing is no different than the guys who did not like the cut out in the M14 stocks that were used on M1A-type rifles and bought those phony little selector switches, which actually did nothing but looked pretty neat. We ahve a gentleman here who did a duplication of a Vietnam era GM Hydrodynamics M16 Rifle using a mock lower receiver and period correct (legal) parts. He even went so far as to duplicate the markings and even added an engraving of the auto sear pin in the correct location. It looked simply amazing!

Did you look outside and see if his car had a fart-can muffler, vinyl graphics and a gigantic wing on the back?

    The markings don't mean crap
What matters is there an autosear hole and is there physical room milled for the sear

I have several semi lowers marked auto
I use them for my autosears

I tell ya, I was irritated for a little bit after leaving. Thankfully, I had my little girl to sooth me.

I sure didn't enjoy being talked at by "gets loud guy" and all his knowledge along with some dude carrying an empty gun on his side!

    On topic.
You cant within reason. Like posted above, a link or DIAS or a full auto parts kit and drill the hole in the lower.

Look at pic #5 in this listing. See the areas milled away to allow F.A.

if it wasnt a registered machine gun prior to may 86', then it isnt a transferable machine gun now and never will be, unless the nfa gets repealed(or substantially edited).

while its childs play mechanically to convert an ar-15, its not legal. well, it is, but it becomes illegal to sell to a civilian. anybody who tells you they have a way to convert a semi auto rifle into a legit machine gun without a tax stamp is completely full of it.

Thank you for the link, the photo was helpful. I wish to go back tomorrow as the attendant expressed that it was full auto and I think he was misrepresenting the item.

I've assembled several Spikes lowers and they are marked in that manner for entertainment value only.
