Who do you like? Trump met with General Mattis and I'd love to see him. He would get stuff done. But he needs a waiver from Congress because he hasn't been retired long enough. If not him who else is decent? Hopefully not a politician.

Based on the Secretary of State thread, it appears that coastal elites or insiders are highly popular, which is inline with a continuing strong nationalistic movement.
    What's next?

When the DEMOCRAT media starts calling him an Islamaphobe, war monger, xenophobe, racist and the usual hateful banter, you will know he is the right choice.

To me Mad Dog would be the right choice. And Trump should unleash Mad Dog on ISIS
and let him scorch the Earth with their bodies.

Hopefully the new head of the DoD will put a cease and desist order on the screwing around with the Navy Ratings..

I know what you guys are saying and he is one tough Marine however that post is usually filled with a civilian for a reason. We have not had a retired military officer serve as SOD since George Marshal. There was a plan with Truman, Eisenhower, and Marshal to do away with civilian control of the military. It failed mostly due to the Marine Corp letting Congress know what was going on. The Army was going to do away with the Marines and they weren't having any of that. I love our military but I still want to maintain civilian control.

I understand your point, and this may be splitting hairs but he is a civilian. He retired from the Marines, so is it relevant that he retired a 3.5 years ago as apposed to separating 20 years ago and then serving in other political/civilian capacities such as Congress? I doubt Mattis figured he'd be tapped to any other government service after being canned by Obama. Colin Powell retired from the ARMY in 1993 and then served in 2001 as Secretary of State. Patraeus retired from the ARMY and immediately took over the CIA. I'd much prefer a pick like that to one of a career politician with little regard for DOD. It is time to end the social experiments and get back to being a war fighting machine.
