So I missed my flight yesterday...

Time change screwed me up. Left the house with plenty of time looked at my watch and the clock in the car... decided to stop for a bite to eat.

Time change got me on both the watch and clock in the truck.

I just learned Qatar wants $815 for a new ticket. I paid $2000 for this ticket.

I'm letting the company handle it, I used their service to purchase this ticket. If they want me back they can deal with it. If not I'm staying home.

I do not miss traveling to the Middle East and Asia.

Really doubt I will be making either journey again.

I'd love to skip the middle east altogether but it seems Dubai is now the hub for the rest of the world.

I always flew out of Amsterdam into New Delhi using Delta / KLM.

Obviously it will depend upon what carrier you use. I made the decision following 11 September, 2001 that I would never fly on a carrier that was not either U.S. or European flagged. Made quite a few trips into Dubai and Muscat since then, but it was only when Dubai or Muscat was the final destination.

Best wishes during your travels. Stay safe.

Guard your passport because you are NOT getting on the plane if you lost it.

My tickets are "last class" and non refundable. Other expenses are "my bad" and out of my pocket. Can only blame myself.

Keep a copy of the passport info.

Possible to get a "temporary" replacement in 24 hours, ha,ha, but shouldn't be more than 2 or 3 days. Know where your embassy is located.

Standing in line at the airport and don't have it? You're probably SOL.

This site sells travel insurance,, (I think) but has the general procedure required.

THIS IS NOT MY SITE,, I AM NOT SELLING TRAVEL "STUFF" NOR AM I GETTING ANY COMMISSION OR REMUNERATION IN GOODS SERVICES OR FAVORS. or if for some reason they are selling cheap chinese "crap",, maybe an ad on the side,, kind of like Gun Broker. Don't look at it because you just might save a few bucks.

You should try MilAir in theater! Miss roll call or signup and you're double screwed! I had to do hops while in Afghan by Mil Air and just one trip with the miltary will have you begging for any commercial airline! Don't be late, be prepared to stand in line holding ALL your bags and be ready to run for the flightline. Then when you get on the plane there is no guarentee you are going anywhere, they change flights all the time and you will unass the plane when they cancel, then do it all over again. [:D]

How the hell do you fly that long. I am sweating like a black man at a KKK cookout when I fly. I have a hard time flying for two to three hours. I am sick worrying about 8 hours to Germany. [xx(][xx(][xx(]

I try to get a window seat and sleep on and off through most of the flight. Can't stand isle seats with people bumping into me all 14 hours.

To me, it's a coin toss. Get the window and be left alone. Get the aisle and not have to crawl over 2 people to stretch and or use the bathroom.

I never got the opportunity. Almost got a Black Hawk ride but it didn't happen.

Didn't get my helicopter ride till I flew on the State Department's bird after the military left Iraq. Just not the same...

I remember walking to the back of the Pan Am 747 in the late 80's to grab a smoke during flights to London. Though never a nervous flyer, I would keep up a proper beer level and the smoke breaks did not hurt.

By banning smoking, the airlines do not need to exchange the cabin air as much, saving fuel. To think when NW Airlines established smoke free planes in the 1990s, they said they were doing it for passenger comfort. Not so much. I would imagine that the quality of air in planes today is worse than it was when the smoking section was in play, as much less make up air is brought into the cabins.

An American flying to the middle East these days is sorta like playing Russian roulette.

    Good luck to ya.

Try sitting on one for 19 hours! [:D]

We gripe about sitting on a plane for a few hours today, just think what it must have been like back about 150 years ago or so. In order to get to the middle east it would have taken a couple of months on a sailing ship crossing the Atlantic and then several more weeks sailing on the Mediterranean Sea and then several weeks riding on a camel train or riding on a donkey after you got off the ship to get to your location. We pretty much have it made today that is if you don't get blown up or high jacked and kidnapped.

I won't do it anymore. I used to fly but I am not getting on an airplane again. If I can't drive there then I don't need to go there. I'm not going to put up with that TSA BS or packed into a cigar tube.
