Who all is working on New Years Eve and , or New Years Day ? I will be at work getting straight time plus holiday pay. Let the party begin...

I'm retired, so I'm out of the loop. But when I was employed, I always worked the holidays. It was double-time plus $200 for those shifts (12-hour shifts), so in a shift I could make enough to go to the gun store and treat myself well [:)]. My employer knew that those of us who had no local family and who were not partiers, could be depended on to provide the necessary coverage while the employer avoided having to use 'agency' people at truly exhorbitant rates. An added bonus was that the personnel who filled the slots were already entirely aquainted with the medical conditions of the patients they would be working with, which generated the best continuity of care. A win-win-win situation.

I am. A factory restart following a holiday shutdown period. Always some of us engineering staff get called in. Make sure it all comes back to life. Get all the toys working and nicely warmed up before the production horde returns to duty. A full day or more so if problems arise.

Straight time though. I'm hourly but New Year's Day is the holiday for us, not New Year's Eve.

I am working, but 0545 - 1345....does that count? I will be in bed normal time tonight, it is just another day, with an extra day off tomorrow. New Years means nothing to me other than having to remember to change the date.

And folks wonder why everything costs TOO much. I worked most pre-holiday days AT NORMAL PAY (and even a couple of Christmas call-ins) for nearly 30 years. Today I'm finishing a vehicle repair project, grinding deer meat, making meat sticks, and looking after Grandkids. Holidays, pre-holidays, and Sundays are all the same on the farm.

When I was hourly I got New Year's eve as a holiday.
Now that I'm salary, it's a floating holiday. No need to take today off if the celebration happens tonight, so I use the holiday for when I'd rather use it.

New Years day, gonna be COLD here. Sleep late and catch up on sleep and maybe clean up my work shop.

Congrats on your pending retirement. My wife is retired and I have probley 20 more years to work if the Dems stay in office.

The guys all worked a full day today and don't have to be back until Monday. I left it up to them. Work today and have four days off, or take today off and work Friday. Were smokin busy right now.

I had today off, just worked for an hour or so remotely. Wife's a nurse so she's in for 12 which is usually 13. I have about 45 minutes until I fire up the grill!
