Dan was watching the old movie channell the other day and there was a movie on about the chamberlain family with meryl streep and the dingo baby deal. Have you ever seen this movie? and if so was this trial really such a big deal all over Australia?? or is it just more holleywood hype.

    It was a big deal. 20 years later it was shown that the mother was telling the truth.

    On Buffy the Vampire Slayer there was a fictional rock band called, Dingos Ate My Baby, the name coming from the notoriety the case attracted.

    yep, a huge deal for many years here.
    the mother was jailed because the government wanted to protect dingos.
    a so called "expert" stated at the coroners enquiry that it was impossible for a dongo to have picked the baby up in it`s jaws!
    it`s been proven more than once now that they are very capable of it, but she served prison time for a crime she didn`t commit. she lives in america somewhere now.
