MORE Calif BS!!

I just made attempt to order an AK-47 SCOPE MOUNT on line at Sportsman's Guide. I don't own an AK but I do re-build old and antique firearms. I presently have an on old Martini single shot tilt block receiver that I'm re-building and a "side mount" scope would work very well for this application. WELL I just got a notice that Sportsman's Guide won't ship this item to my ZIP code ...ie Cailf! I just called them and asked why ...it's not a firearm, it's not a Calif control part (high-capacity mag.), and I don't own an AK! They didn't care ...it has the AK-47 name on it and they don't want any trouble!
I am "smoking" right now!!!!!!!

I know it bites for you guys there, but it will only get worse. The gunowners are out numbered and the left leaning whiners keep putting people in office that put laws or restrictions on the books that makes it a nightmare for a seller to deal with.

I am in line with Barrett when he took his stand against the PRK and refused to sell or service his weapons in that state until they supported the 2A. Maybe all manufacturers need to do this and CA will get a clue...most likely it wont though.

Can't all the conservatives and gun owners band together and start changing things?

I really wish they could...but they are so outnumbered by the tree huggers, fruits and nuts that they get ignored.

Its a shame too...CA has some beautiful country and great hunting, but its laws are so draconian that no one wants to live under their rules.

BS, they aren't outnumbered, they are just too dumb to both organize and understand the issue. There was a discussion about it recently in "constitutional rights" forum, if you're curious to see what a typical CA gun owner mentality is, check it out, or just go to the source at calguns.net. I feel no pity for them, they are all responsible for it and are helping to turn the rest of the country to their likeness. It's a disease and should be treated like one.

That would be Sportsman's Guide BS, not California, just sayin'

It has nothing to do with California laws if it is a company's idiotic policy.

Not exactly. The company created this "idiotic policy" only in response to existing CA BS. You don't think they did it to piss you all off or for their amusement, right?

It is perfectly legal to buy/sell/own that part, perfectly legal to ship that part to CA, no restrictions at all of any kind. In fact, I bought an AK scope mount and rail here in CA a while back for a similar mount project. Sportsman's Guide won't ship something to California that is not restricted in any way in California. It is Sportsman's Guide policy and has nothing to do with any laws in CA, since there are no laws in California governing the illegality of any scopes, mounts or components.

Sportsman's guide sucks anyway. There is a whole lot of stuff that is legal to ship/buy/own/sell/trade here that they won't ship because they would rather be whiny bitches and not read any actual laws regarding what is legal here, and I guess it is their loss.

In red above. I really think I read somewhere, about a year ago or so, that SG was bought out by some French company. If so, that would explain the odd attitude that will at some point put them out of the gun accessories business altogether.

So, not wanting to deal with ridiculous regulations, setup by localities, makes them french now. Did you know that it's illegal to mail ammunition to SF, how about LA? Well, if you were in business of selling ammo, what do you think would be cheaper for you -- sell and ship by mistake to one of these localities and face a law suit, not to mention spending time and resource on constant monitoring of ALL CA local town legislations or just not sell ammo to CA, period? I know, it's most likely too logical of a concept for ya'll to grasp, so keep on bitching.

One way to get around this problem is to buy from a CA based company that understands CA laws. There are several companys that build otherwise banned guns in a CA legal manner. In fact I have two shops doing that just 4 miles from my house. I can go to eather one and buy a custom built AR and one just finished approval on a FN FS-2000.

An AR-type with a 10-round welded on magazine that has to be broken to top load isn't an AR. How long do you think before Vulcans are in the same company as Bushys and they'll outlaw them without an ability to even register them. But yeah, keep on doing whatcha doin', and defending your flawed logic with non-sequitur statements instead of solving the problem at its root.

Something needs to be done in California and only the people that live there can make the change. If there is something I can do here from Kansas let me know ...

How many of their illegal laws that are overstepping the Constitution and Bill of Rights are spreading into the heads of the other liberal cesspools like New York, Illinois and Maryland?

When these socialist democrats see what is getting done in Cali it's almost like they have to adopt it or worse.
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

This is not an issue of us gun owners in Calif changing the laws here. Its an issue of Sportsmans Guide not knowing what they are doing when it comes to their convoluted shipping restrictions.

The only part of an AR type rifle that is no longer allowed here is the "lower" receiver. Uppers are OK, as are all the other parts.

Actually, lowers are still legal here as long as they are built so that it has a fixed 10 rd mag or has a mag release that requires a "tool" to activate.

SG, however will not sell anything that goes on an AR, sights, grips, carry handles etc etc. Its is simply a dumb mistake that is cutting into their business.
