I'm flying from Ga. to Tex. How do you declare a firearm to carry it to another state or can you? Is my firearms permit any good in Tex Thanks. Sam

When you get to airport, go to ticket counter. Smile and (you might want to write this down) say "Good morning. I would like to declare an unloaded firearm in my checked baggage." Do NOT just walk up and say "I've got a gun." Airline personnel will have you open case, show it is unloaded, you sign declaration form, close, lock case, hand to the TSA person, keep key. No guns or ammo goes with you thru security checkpoint. When you arrive, your gun will probably be at the baggage office, not on the baggage carousel.
If you have a GA concealed carry permit, it is recognized by TX. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/Georgia.pdf
