...as I get older...when I was in my teens, I waited for Friday Night Fights! Loved boxing...even would watch wrestling...are what ever...now, I don't have any clue who is a boxing champion..and the "Caged " stuff is completely foolish for me...I loved the "sweet sport"....but the new stuff has no interest what so ever for me....I made a lot of money off ole white guys that despised Cassius Clay..But I knew he was something special....long before he beat Sonny Liston...I watched him perform in the Golden Gloves...he was a new breath of air for boxing...I quickly dropped him when he refused to step forward for his oath to military service...now, I couldn't tell you anyone that is a boxer...

I also remember the Wed & Fri night fights, pwillie. Gillette & PBR were the sponsors. Dad & I would watch them when he closed his store at 9:00. Yeah, now days I've lost most interest. PPV - forget it.
It's too late for me, save yourself.

My Dad really got into the old black and white fights, no one got the TV that night

When I say he got into it that is saying it mildly, when someone got hit hard he reacted as if he got hit, he sat in a recliner chair. Saw many times when he reacted to the hit he and the chair would go over backwards had to pick up him and the chair. Shake himself off and right back to the TV

He broke of a stick match about equal, all the time spinning/twirling them between his thumb and fore finger never dropped them even when he and the chair went over.

We would twist, duck move his body as if he were throwing the punches

A friend would come over on fight nights to watch the Ole Man, when I was drafted and gone my friend still came by on fight night to watch the show
