I was out mid January on my favorite grass airstrip where I control prairie dogs. I use a 22LR because of ammo cost. Here is a photo with the doggie and off
in the distance you can see my San Angelo bench (30") on its side for
lasering back to where I was set up.
I have taken 48 here so far this year.

I needed to use two monitors. [:D]
Which side of the Continental Divide are you on?
And what rifle did you use?
Is the prairie dog gonna be OK??
Sure. Once he wakes up from his little nap...

A Marlin 60 SS 22LR. This was 215 yards. 38degN 51', 107W 49
You can see 4 fourteeners from here: Uncompaghre, Sneffles, Wilson, and Wilson Peak.
Nice country, too. If I'm reading your directions right, that's either a White-tailed Prairie Dog or a Gunnison's.
Dear Colonel,

Part of me misses the Western Slope. I spent a year in Montrose. I considered a job in Gunnison, but my Okie wife took a look at their average tremperature... Shot that idea in the butt.
But at heart, I'm a Plains Boy. I get claustrophobic up that way if I'm there for too long. Out here, you can see Friday's company coming by Tuesday.
I had tried to hit him a loadup (14 rounds max) earlier, but he went down, and I had reloaded the 22.
He came back out after maybe 10 minutes.
There was dust to help range the shots.....I figure my hold was about 19 feet at that distance.
I used to have a 22-250 that did the job nicely.
I use a Heavy barrel Handi in 223 now. 300 yds is no problem. Anything under that is a chip shot.
I'm jealous
x2
are they good eatin'?
Coyotes love 'em!
Airplane wheels, horse legs, and water irrigation, plus they eat a large proportion of the crop.
