    Glad you two are OK.

Did you stop on the way home to buy some clean underwear?

Wow. Lucky you; it bounced off.
A long, slightly bent piece of rebar however, will go right through everything like a javelin.

I bounced over an aluminum ladder the other day at 75mph on the freeway, no chance to miss it or change lanes as the car in front of me hit it too. Just the day before a 2x4 went through a lady's windshield in the same area. More reasons why I no longer ride a street motorcycle. I attribute the increase to all the illegal construction workers and their dilapidated overloaded vehicles. Not uncommon to see them alongside the freeway broke down or trailers lost wheels. Of course the DOT is never around to harass them the way they do legal truck drivers.

Had that Happen with a 4X4 it was sliding down the road right at me. I was in my MGB. Not sure how it passed under.

Had the rack from a stake bed truck fall off that was a great Ramp to jump my Bike from. Jumping a 750 Suzuki with windshield and bags is not fun.

Glad you're okay too. Life does, indeed, have its scary moments.

Yikes! That had to be scary, seeing that thing flying at you. Not much to do but hang on, and pray. Good work by the little lady, not to panic and swerve and cause a 15 car pile up.

Go buy a dozen lottery tickets, quick, it is your lucky day.

I was riding my 1100 Virago on a dark, rainy night and suddenly saw the muffler and tailpipe from a car in the middle of the lane I was in.
All I could do was lift mu feet up and let off the gas.No time to even brake.
The front tire went over and it kicked-up under the bike and knocked the kickstand spring off. That immediately shut the engine down.
(bike had a safety sw that wouldn't let U put it in gear with the stand down)
I tied it up with a shoestring and went on home.
So glad U and u'r wife made it thru that ok Roger...REAL LUCKY BREAK there man!!!

    Glad you're safe.
A few years back, I was behind a primered '68 Firebird at a stoplight. When the light changed, he laid rubber out like he was on a drag strip.
I drive fast too, so I was pretty close behind him when all of a sudden, the hood departed his vehicle. It seemed like slow motion as it went straight up and reached a height of about 30 feet right above the roadway.

I punched it and flew under it as it was coming down right in the middle of the highway. Fortunately, no car was under it impacted the ground.

    Driving requires your full attention.

I'm glad you came through it alive. Some people don't.

There is no way that could be called an accident. It was pure premeditated carelessness. People who fail to secure their load and cause damage or injure or kill people should be charged criminally.

The load should always be secured, if for no other reason than plywood is expensive.
The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.

I was going down the interstate in the Camaro a few years ago....changed lanes and a truck that was lifted was in front of me. He went over a 2X4 in the road, but touched it so it started to spin. I didn't have time to do anything, but HOPE for the best.....I drove over it, flinging it up into traffic on my right. I saw it hit the vehicle's front behind me, but I don't know what happened. Nobody stopped...but there HAD to be damage!

    Had 3 similar incidents.

First time south if Indy. Following a semi in traffic, a large valve body came out from under the semi and I didn't have his ground clearance. Put on the brakes to slow down and decided to take it head on vs swerve in traffic and risk hitting it with a a wheel or two. It totaled the car, but we stayed upright and drove a mile or two to the next exitt losing fluids and unable to shift. Police found the flatbed that lost it as a part of a larger assembly.

Second time was on the bike coming into Milwaukee on the way back from Sturgis. Some one dropped a round igloo cooler, rolling towards me, swerved on the bike to miss that one, took a half hour to smooth the pucker out of my seat when I washed the bike.

Third time was nearing the Illinois line coming out of Milwaukee. In the car and had a semi flip up a nearly whole retread. Hit the hood, cracked the windshield and then up and over it went.

If the first or last had been on the bike...no more posting, guess my time wasn't up yet!
