It was clear the GB DB (Jennings) had it in both hands and controlled. In order for the Seahawk reciever to have EQUAL possession he had to have at least two hands on the ball. He had one between the DB and the ball and the other was not on the ball. Body position at the end of the play clearly showed touchback.
And of all crappy officiating I've seen in the last few years, this is even worse![xx(][xx(]
That is hilarious![:D]
Offensive pass interference with Tate pushing off the defensive player.
Game over with the penalty.
And you can't have simultaneous possession if the offensive player has only one hand on the ball.

yep, the catch is immaterial, there was offensive pass interference that led to the catch.
Yep, the catch is immaterial because the refs gave Green Bay a touchdown earlier in the game. Can you all say "make up call"?

No.
I cannot.

Seriously? This one call (and I have looked at the play many times) isn't all that bad. IMO it could have gone either way. But they missed SOOOOOO many clear cut ones earlier, most of which went in favor of the Packers... I think it's a wash at best.

Anyhow, the call was corrected, but what the refs missed was the DB started pushing Harvin BEFORE the ball got to him and he had his back turned to the QB....clearly a case of pass interference that never got called. It should have been Vikings ball on the one (PI in the endzone rule) with just a few seconds to play and we could have won that game fairly. As it was, we were denied the chance to win because of continuous referee mistakes. So, even the striking refs weren't getting it right. If you want a team that really paid that price, ask the Seahawks.
Being a Minnesota fan, it was two years ago Minnesota played Green Bay the second time in the year Green Bay won the Super Bowl. The last play of the game, Minnesota was driving and Brett Favre threw a pass to Percy Harvin in the end zone. The incorrect call was a touchdown, and due to it being under 2 minutes, the replay was referee decision. Correctly, the call was reversed because that was the first year a player can push an opposing receiver out of bounds before he could put his feet down. The old rule was it was a catch if you pushed him out of bounds.

I remember that as well, and yes... Superbowl XL in 2006 (I have it on tape) was even worse than either of these two games combined.

How many Refs can Vegas buy?
I haven't bet on a football game ever since Fran Tarkenton said he once was told to throw a game against the Cowboys. He wouldn't, and ended up getting pulled.
How many Refs can Vegas buy?
Was that when he was with the Giants or back in Minnesota?
The replacements would have gotten better. But then, even with the real refs, all you hear is bitching about the calls from those refs. Can't please everyone. These guys have to make split second decisions and they are only human. They will make mistakes.
But at the end of the day it is still only a game.[:0]
