SPRINGFIELD ARMORY CEO DENNIS REESE STATEMENT REGARDING IFMA AND GUN DEALER LICENSING ACT (SB1657)

Posted by Team Springfield May 2, 2017 5:52:59 PM

The Executive Director of the Illinois Firearm Manufacturers Association (IFMA) acted without our prior knowledge and against our principles and those of the industry as a whole with respect to the Gun Dealer Licensing Act. We no longer have confidence in IFMA and after speaking to other directors we have made the decision to sever all ties with the organization, effective immediately.

I take full responsibility for my failure of oversight in this case and deeply apologize to my employees, customers and industry partners for the distraction and divisiveness this situation has caused within our tight-knit community. Our industry has always stood strong and fought fiercely together in the past and I am personally committed to defeating this harmful legislation. To that end, I have pledged to the NRA that we will bring the full resources of my company to bear in this fight.

We are not new to this battle, Springfield Armory has fought and defeated legislation like this in Illinois for decades. We are wholeheartedly against this bill and will fight shoulder-to-shoulder with the NRA, National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Illinois State Rifle Association and others to see it defeated as the unnecessary and harmful overreach that it is.

We want to assure all Americans, like us, who fight to protect the Second Amendment that we and our industry partners will leave no stone unturned to defeat this bill.

Their statements read like something a corrupt politician would release after being caught.

They should give Illinois the middle finger and move 40 miles west to Iowa, just like Les Baer and LMT did.

or they could just make it easy and move 300 miles in any direction [;)]

Agreed. A little easier on employees if they setup shop in LeClaire next to Les Baer...only a easy 40 mile commute down I-80.

Well they pretty much followed my advice. I recommended give 100k to the NRA to lobby against this bill and drive its death.

I don't know how big the check is to the NRA-ILA but if there is a road to redemption, this is it.

I can't fault Springfield for making the right move to ammend the mistake.

    I got the email too.

I had fun jabbing Springfield immediately on their Facebook page and even messaging them.

This is the right path to redemption.

What other path to correct this mistake could Springfield take?

The ONLY path to redemption is the CEO step down. The CEO and one other Springfield Armory employee were two of four people on the IFMA. One other was the CEO of Rock River Arms. It's BS for them to say they didn't know what was going on. These dirtbags also have donated money to Illinois anti gun politicians. That is unforgivable period.

They are either liars or completely incompetent. No way I believe they didn't know. Especially since the CEO of SA and his brother were heads of the lobbying group and the head of RRA was the third...the fourth member was the lobbyist. They can try to spin this any way they want but they have ruined their reputations at this point.

Hello - did everyone on this forum get an e-mail from Springfield Armory saying to do a "witness slip" since you were an Illinois resident?????

    I am nowhere near Illinois.

    Best Regards - AQH

Got the same email and told them they need to get the hell out of a state governed by DEMOCRATs.

SA need to get a clue. DEMOCRATs do not like them and want them gone anyway.
