Need a new fridge

Nothing wrong mechanically with my old fridge. But can't get a handle that wind break for the door and two shelves on the door are unusable as the shelf cracked and the tab that holds the shelf on are broke off.

So what brands do you have or would recommend? All the box stores have super duper sales until the end of the month and the wife and I are looking.

We want a freezer on bottom fridge, can be single door or French door. Don't want a side by side. We like a whirlpool and it has awesome reviews so we're looking at it closest. We like a Samsung a bit better but it has 5x more 1 star reviews. Mainly for being noisy. We went to a Sears outlet store(scratch and dent) and prices were higher then lowes.

They're pretty much all on the same plane any more. No really great brands to recommend, nothing terrible to stay away from either. IMO.

Just find one that has the features you like that you can afford.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

We just bought a Kenmore. They have the type you are looking for. They had the fridge we wanted on sale and then I had an additional $75 in Sears points I used and got an additional 5% off for using our Sears card to buy it. I had the cash so as soon as they rung up the fridge with the card I paid it off right then and there..and got free delivery. And for buying the fridge I got $65 to use on a future purchase which I used last night to buy a snow blower.

I get the no side by side.

Years ago (about 18 or more) we bought an Admiral side by side freezer storage is very limited.

We also have a chest freezer because things like Pizza don't fit in the side by side.

On the good note the Admiral has had a couple defrost heaters but still working fine.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Consumer reports has the new book out for 2017 with a good section on fridge reviews. By type and features. Fridgidare and Samsungs looked good as well as LG

No matter what brand you buy, get the warranty for as long as they offer. At least 5yrs if they have that. Appliances these days have mostly electronic controls with circut boards. Those can go bad.

DO NOT buy a GE product. The help desk had my GF so upset I thought she was going to blow a gasket. I have NEVER seen her this upset. It is all over a 4 month old washer

The washer is NOT working correctly, Niesel showed me what it is doing several times, it is definitely messing up. The warranty is not worth the powder it takes to blow it to hell.

GE is calling us liars telling us the machine can't do what we are telling them it is doing WHILE IT IS DOING IT!. Trying to tell the bimbos on the line the error that we are getting is why we called went nowhere. She kept insisting it could not do what it was doing. We kept explaining that is why we called, it was all to no avail. We were told we would have to pay for a service call to have service look at it.

    GE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Josh, Go with Lowes, I bought a couple appliances from them, Fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher and all for great prices. We shop around and they had the best prices. We got a 2,800 fridge, for 700, because it had a nickle size dent in the back of it. Ask if they will sell the floor model. I did email you, but I guess you didn't get it. My email is Oak41mag@aol.com. Oakie

I think there is a Lowes off 42, not far from Benton.

Yes, brand name doesn't mean anything today; most "brands" are made by a few conglomerates. The Korean companies (LG & Samsung) appliances are big sellers, but expensive & recalls are common.

Try to buy a more expensive model; the cheap "builders" models tend to fail quickly. It's difficult to avoid electronics. Avoid a frig that has an automatic "vacation" setting; if you don't open the door every few days, they get warmer to save electricity.

Ice makers are trouble prone, but some women just HATE making ice cubes manually. Same for water through the door. Try to avoid the ice=maker-in-the-door, as replacement will not be something you can do yourself for $30, like the old modular units.

    Note the rebates available

LG or Bosch if you have the money

No warranties express or implied. Your mileage may vary.

That's one fridge we both liked. But it has more then 4x more one star reviews then the whirlpool I'm looking at.

I bought 2 whirlpool washing machine because the reviews were so good.
They were both the worst appliances I ever had. I hate whirlpool.

My Mom and Dad's Frigidaire refrigerator that they bought in 1948 was still working in 2010 when they gave it away to make room in the garage for a frost free model. It had a porcelain finish and it was as white the day they gave it away as it was the day it was made.

You'll never find one today that'll work for over 60 years without anything ever being done to it other than cleaning. They're made to fail these days and have been for a long time.

As others have said, they are pretty much the same. Don't expect to get the life that we were used to back in the '50's or so. They are just throwaways like most of everything anymore.
It's too late for me, save yourself.

Might as well buy a cheap one. The expensive ones really don't last much longer.

cant do the french doors, i dont like piling food up and digging for something like its a foot locker

i have 2 side by sides, one is smaller and yes a pizza goes in sideways, my larger one in my man cave they fit nice and flat, i prefer shelves so raw meat waiting to freeze does not come in contact with other foods

True. But fit and features are much better. Evan going from the 25 .2cubic foot to this one. Shelves are sturdier, more and better lighting. Freezer is better laid out.

Some of the French door fridges the doors had to be swung wide open to open the bottom crispers or these "pantry" doors all the way( something I won't be able to do in my house). This one the bottom door shelf is reset in so the crisper will open.

I can't recommend a brand but Lowe's is a pretty good place to do business.
