How can society fix it?

Damn shame that people who tend to self limit their own off-spring due to financial and/or social responsibility have to pay taxes to support those who breed with abandon and have no concern for raising children with values and morals.

I wonder how you could morally change that?

When I say social responsibility I am referring to the ability to spend time with the children, take them to their ball games or whatever, Etc.

Being able to afford ten kids doesn't necessarily mean you have the time to RAISE them.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Let's start by eliminating the federal income tax deduction for children (other than those you adopt).

Holy Crapola, thought I was the only one on this platform. Kids cost society more, thus their should be a tax on kids, not a tax break.

I would say a tax break up to 2-3 kids. Birth rates need to be what 2.1? So each couple needs to have 2-3 kids to maintain the population.

Have a break for kids 1,2 and 3. And loose breaks after that to the point of being penalized.

With 3 and 4 generations of the family, only need .8 children per couple to sustain and grow the population.

on the contrary we need to eliminate some population, not encourage it, and by eliminate it i mean stop producing so much , at +53 million a year we will not last forever

I have said that for years. My single friends agreed wholeheartedly, the 'married with children' ones all looked at me like I gored their ox.

They all talk about lowering taxes and government spending.....until it does not benefit them. Funny how that works! [;)]

Let's start by eliminating increases in welfare for each kid
You can keep the tax break for people who NET pay tax

Our current tax code sucks...maybe we could cut scrap it and go to an actual fair tax.

If everybody paid a straight 3% (which I don't agree with income tax but at least it's constitutional) and made it so there where no deductions whatsoever and then started cutting these social programs that suck money we would soon realise a surplus....relatively speaking...heck we might even make a dent in our national debt interest![:p]

Stop subsidizing children out of wedlock and provide incentives for the first 3 children for married couples.

The problem is all relative to GOVERNMENT. When government rewards bad behavior and punishes moral behavior, you end up with the mess you described.
