So what was the gun used in the Airport shooting ?

I don't watch much news on the tube anymore. What little I heard was one of the talking heads going on and on about several reloads and the perp firing between 30-50+ rounds.

I guess since it is not an AR or AK, the media has no idea what was used. My thoughts and prayers for the victims and families involved in this mess.

If we leave it to the MSM, it will soon be described as a "high-capacity, military-style, automatic assault pistol - with sniper sights."
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I just heard it was a 9mm automatic pistol.

That should shorten the list, as there aren't that many "automatic" pistols. [;)]

More than likely the guy never meant to shoot anyone but was just trying to disassemble his Glock19 and well, ya know what happens when you do a take down with a Glock [:D][:D]

If you were one of the luckless individuals who got shot in the temple at 10 feet, you wouldn't care what caliber it was. RIP to those people and prayers to their family and friends. More troubling now is, that the media seems incredulous that it is legal to put a firearm with ammo, in your check on luggage. The hype is building that this is somehow something that should obviously be changed.

I flew from Tampa to Indy about 15 years ago with two pistols. I had checked the airline rules and know I had done everything correctly. It did bother me that as I entered the terminal it had in big letters "No Firearms Allowed". I walked up to the ticket counter (waiting for someone to yell "freeze A.H."), told the lady that I had two pistols in my luggage, and she called security. An officer showed up behind the counter, opened my luggage, checked the pistols, closed and put "inspected" tape on the suitcase. Everything was done with the open part facing away from me (and other travelers) and was done so professionally that I'm sure nobody else knew what I was carrying. If it wasn't for that darn sign!
It's too late for me, save yourself.

A few years ago I flew to Alaska with my Remington 700 and my S&W 629 I was surprised to see so many people walking out of the terminal in Fairbanks with gun cases.

A Walther PPS was shown on the floor with the slide held back by a magazine with a finger extension.

The photo I saw of the assailants pistol was not a Glock. Not sure otherwise what it was. The airline is responsible for checking in the firearm at the ticket counter, assuring it is properly cased, and tagging the suitcase or carrying case. Not sure who the security person was affiliated with as described above, but probably not TSA.

In this case, the TSA did not mess up as the firearm was in checked baggage that never gets to the TSA checkpoint.

Unsure if he declared it at check in as required or just gambled that no one would check his bags along the way.

And yes, the antis have already started to scream to stop anyone from ever being allowed to put a firearm in checked baggage. Another suggestion has been to place a security checkpoint at all entry points to the airport and make sure no one walks in from the street/parking lot and starts shooting.

Watched a lot of on CNN right after it happened. Amazes me how little these people know about firearms. They were all shocked and couldn't believe that you could possibly legally carry a firearm on an airplane as luggage. It's been done millions of times over the years with no problems other than airline people who didn't know the rules giving the gun owner grief. The guy went about it the hard way. Pull up to any airport in the country and walk into bagage with a loaded handgun and start shooting. No one will stop or check you. You can't always stop evil people from doing bad things. Too bad you can't legally carry concealed in an airport. Another example of the failure of gun free zones.
