....and easily treated.
Maybe readily treated but, if they're still prescribing ointment that requires 100% coverage and can't be washed off for a day and a half, I wouldn't call it easy.

Thank you for your kind words of advice. I have been treating it, and it is about gone now.
Good to hear David.
Girls at the vet's office get it from the critters that come in and out of the office.
They use bleach to treat it.
Quite scary to say the least.
Ringworm had to me been a joke brought up when pants wearin' backwards, underpants showin people that have sock hats puled over their ears in warm weather. I am well informed now, thanks going to check my hats[;)]
You got that right. I should have washed my hands before I went to the bathroom.
That brings up visions I don't need.
I ain't putting bleach where I had this one.
The absolute BEST over the counter medical topical therapy for ringworm is LAMISIL, which contains terbinafine hydrochloride.
This agent actually KILLS the fungus that causes the infection.
Most of the other OTC medicines are azole-containing compounds that only stop fungal growth. Yes, the fungi will eventually die after a prolonged treatment (generally 2 weeks), but the terbinafine kills them much quicker.
In theory you can kill the infection with only one application, though in practice you should probably go for the full 1 week treatment.
Also, one other KEY thing in treating skin fungal infections. The fungus loves MOISTURE, and, in fact, won't do well without it. That's why these infections are most often in folds of the skin that retain moisture (groin, between toes, under breasts, etc). Whatever body part is affected, make sure you dry it off after bathing, and ensure that it stays dry.
EDIT: Generic equivalent is OK too. You can save a few bucks and get yourself a larger tube buying the Walmart equivalent.
WOrking with cats and dogs, I have seen my share of ringworm, had it too, many many times...LOL
VEry very easy to clear up, and its not as contagious as what is thought...I have had it, classic didnt get it, nor did my cats get it...they smelled my clothes, touched my hair/face etc..never got it...
Its really no biggie...apply antifungal cream, wash and go on with life...there are worse things..
tinea pruris -jock itch
tinea corporus -ringworm
tinea pedus -athlete's foot
tinea manum -fungus infection of the hands
tinea caput- ringworm of the scalp
Now I'm itchy all over! [xx(]
