Just an FYI on that 625 auction.

625-2's have roll stamped 'Model of 1988' on the barrel.

625-3's and later have laser etched 'Model of 1989' on the barrel.

You are paying top $$$ for something that seems to be incorrect.

I called a friend and alerted him to your model 12. I can't say for sure but he may bid on it. Good luck.

A while back you mentioned making a trip over towards Phillips Reservoir... Did you ever make it over this way or is that still in the works?

    Bump...

Thanks for the info, it seems very confusing. I've read the S&W book and it mentions that both Supica and Nahas really don't have a clue as to what S&W did when these came out (volume 3 page 253). It's weird because the first version is the -2 1988 model that didn't even come out until 1989. It appears that the first ones out in 89 were the roll stamped 88 marked ones. And then the same -2 version came out in 1989 also and was etch marked 1989.

If you look at past sales of these guns $900 is pretty cheap. There is another 1988 on there and he wants $1150, and a 1989 one is going for $1250. Again thanks for the info, and if there is anything else please let me know!
